I wouldn't expect Samsung, Microsoft, HP, etc. to treat you any better than the law allows either. Sometimes the seller does better, like Costco, but don't know what their policies are in Mexico. Here, iPads bought at Costco have a 90 Day no hassle return policy, whereas Apple has 15 day.
Right now i can't return anything anywhere. Right now my problem is related only with Apple.

Jan 2, 2015 11:46 AM in response to Garth1988by Armstrong89,OK so this time I went to the Apple Store for a replacement, completely different batch numbers and I also noticed the battery percentage was different from the last two bench marks are good and does not seem to be creating the popping noise yet, but I have not out it on charge! I noticed with the last one when it was fully charged it would produce the spark, not at 24% for example.
i Also noticed if you mess with the ringer volume and then press keys you also get a loud click sound that seams familiar but it's not the same popping as the arching and must be a software issue as it has done that on all 3, this one has not produced the arching popping yet will keep you updated my video above is a good example

Jan 3, 2015 3:26 PM in response to Garth1988by Sunny_Mz,Okay, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who's got an Ipad without any popping noise.
Here's the details: I'm in Germany, got my Ipad 23rd December, production week 44, it's silver/white, 128 GB WiFi and cellular.
I came to this site due to a link in "apfeltalk.de" just because I was curious and also a bit worried about this noise.
I've only had my Ipad for one week and not used it all that much, tried some of the suggested uses to provoke a "popping noise" but so far I've been lucky and there was none. No other problems either - except for the holiday calendar not updating for a while. No biggy though.
I'm a complete "newbie" as far as Apple, Ipads and so on are concerned, but so far I'm quite pleased - I hope it stays that way .
To all of you who are having problems I sincerely wish they can be solved - I know how annoying this can be.

Jan 4, 2015 5:08 PM in response to Garth1988by Shockvalue1,To the "Poppers". In Settings under Sounds try turning sound effects to "mute" with the slider. Leave "change with buttons" button on green. This will mute all sound effects such as typing recognition sounds. The volume of music, you tube etc will be unaffected. Check whether you still get the "popping" noise. It still indicates an issue though, as you shouldn't have to do this. I have tried this and haven't got the pop for a couple of days.

Jan 4, 2015 5:13 PM in response to Shockvalue1by McTex,II've tied it to system sounds via the audio circuit, including using the equalizer sequence an earlier poster suggested....and confirming what you indicate, I disable system sounds (like keyboard clicks for example) and the audio pop issue is not there. So the question remains, audio circuit hardware or software defect...

Jan 4, 2015 7:23 PM in response to Garth1988by Morac,My iPad Air 2 does this a few times a day on average. It seems to usually happen when unlocking the screen, but not always. I was wondering if it was defective, but sounds appear normal. The iPad vibrates when playing sound as well, but supposedly that's normal.

David, I do believe it is hardware. Or better said the combination of hardware and software in this case.
I'm absolutely positive the pops in my Air 2 come from the speakers and I think I can proof it.
I've posted this in this thread already, because it randomly produces the same loud popping noise on my device when doing the following:
1. Play a song in the Music app.
2. Open Settings/Music/Equalizer.
3. Switch between "Late Night" and "Latin" presets quickly while the song is playing. It's important to use the "Late Night" preset here.
You don't even have to play the audio file at high volume, the pop is much louder than the song itself.
I get more pops that way as with the Spotlight/keyboard "method".
But if I set the volume to zero and do the same the pops are gone until I raise the volume again.
That's the reason why I believe the pop comes from the speakers.
It would be interesting if the people who think they received a flawless device could try this out. If yours doesn't pop while switching the presets for a while, that would be interesting news.
About the static electricity in general. How shall a static charge build up in a device with a metal body which you are grounding every time you touch it?
While I do get a clicking sound using the method above, I don't think this is the same thing as the random pops I get for two reasons:
1. The pops from the method above are at the same volume as the music. The random pops I get are much louder.
2. I can reproduce "pops" on my iPhone 5s using the method above and I never hear pops on my iPhone 5s.
For me, the pops are almost like the speaker is warming up or stuck. The pops almost always happen when sounds haven't played for a while. For example unlocking the screen. I never hear it when typing even though I have keyboard clicks enabled.
My IA2 is a Wifi+Cell 128 GB production week 47.

Jan 5, 2015 6:25 AM in response to Garth1988by Drumtosurprise,After reading all posts I have come to the conclusion that I can live with a pop or snap once in a while. This is a minor problem compared to the vibrating sound emanating from my iPad air 2 that has been partially solved with a case.

Jan 5, 2015 6:28 AM in response to Drumtosurpriseby McTex,Ditto. With the year warranty, and given how random the audio defect manifests itself, I've kept mine rather than return for a swap/refund. If Apple doesn't fix the issue in some software update within that year, I'll take it to an Apple store for repair/swap.

Jan 5, 2015 6:39 AM in response to McTexby David Bedford,The iPad popping is ok until it fails 1 day outside your warranty. I think that if it was a software issue every one would have the same issus which they don't. And secondly it would have been fixed in a software patch.
If I was you I'd get it replaced,I did and my nrw one of just over a month old is 100% pop free..

Jan 5, 2015 9:28 AM in response to David Bedfordby McTex,I'm more inclined to return for refund (which is an option I have) as others have posted trying 3 different units in Apple Store swaps with no success. I can wait until mid-2015 production.........

Jan 5, 2015 1:45 PM in response to madapostolisby David Bedford,Have a go with Apple as a safety issue...ie you or even someone else may get an electric shock from it...

Jan 5, 2015 2:35 PM in response to David Bedfordby Drumtosurprise,Well I changed my mind and the pop/crack iPad air 2 has been returned. Apple would
not admit to this being a problem. They said it could be caused by being near a microwave.
Apple tech suggested we are all complaining over every little problem. And
because they could not duplicate the problem I shouldn't expect another replacement.
Wow what a change in attitude from Apple.
