Jan 9, 2015 11:25 AM in response to ToastyFlakeby McTex,I returned my new iPad Air 2 for a refund. You will know the popping sound if you have it...... it is LOUD....no special anything required to make it happen... it will startle you ........ it is NOT tied to any volume setting (same loud pop no matter what volume setting there is).... and it was never on any iPad I've had before. It was tied directly to the audio output and the POP was generated by system sounds engaging, like an email alert, keyboard popping up in web browser, or simple things like the "click" sound when you push the top button on the unit.

Jan 9, 2015 12:15 PM in response to watchdogdby Sunny_Mz,@watchdog - When I do the things exactly the way you describe it, I can also hear a popping/clicking noise - but that's the only time I've heard it so far.
And I also think that this is quite different from the popping noise some other people are experiencing, because this noise clearly comes from the speakers whereas the popping noise some other people are experiencing seemingly comes from the backside of the Ipad.
If it remains like that it's fine with me, that's really just a minor thing. I hope no more sounds "pop up" though.

Jan 9, 2015 1:54 PM in response to Sunny_Mzby watchdogd,The idea about replicating the sound is to show what my other apps that normally do not have "unusual sounds" sound like that pop with the iPad Air 2.
What's funny is on the previous iPad Air there is no popping and no popping in the apps that I have released into the App store. That is one of the points I was trying to show is there are correlations with where popping occurs on the current iPad Air 2 and where it does not for the same set of events.I have free solitaire games in the App store for nearly two years now that have never made popping noises on any hardware device. But now intermittent noises happen with the iPad Air 2 frustrating because there is no way I can fix it with disabling sound entirely.

Jan 9, 2015 2:25 PM in response to Garth1988by DocHollywood,I have exactly the same problem which is described in this discussion.
Model: iPad Air 2 Cellular (64 GB, space gray, iOS 8.1.2)
Production week: 49 (December)
Factory: DM (China - Foxconn)
Provider: T-Mobile Germany
After I had dispatched it to Apple for repair via Apple Support Apple sent it back to me and said that my iPad works correctly. They didn’t give me a exchange device.
I don’t what’s up at Apple but the whole story is a mess.
1. Apple should officially admit that they have a problem with Apple iPad Air 2 und should give the customers am small report about the current results.
2. Apple iPad Air 2 is a premium device. The customers exspect high quality. This is one problem of many (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6538224).
My opinion, don’t buy Apple products at present. First they have to learn how to handle correctly with customers.

Jan 9, 2015 3:08 PM in response to Garth1988by psikofunkster,I don't know you guys but me i'm seriously thinking about living with the pop, why?
1) Even if Apple gives me a brand new unit there's no guarantee it will be pop free.
2) In the worst scenerario i could get a new one with the same issue + a dead pixel maybe? that would be even worst. What about some dust inside the screen?
3) Maybe an ios 8 update will fix it in the future.
IMO all the ipad airs 2 have this issue, the people who is saying they don't have it maybe don't have the same apps installed, they don't care about noises, they don't even notice them or maybe it is just a question of time to start popping for them too but that's just my opinion.

Jan 9, 2015 4:11 PM in response to psikofunksterby RobS10,Outside or that rare time when I tried a previous posters scenario of switching to the Late Night EQ preset, mine has not popped once. I tried switching it to Late Night again yesterday, with headphones connected, and it did not pop. Does this mean it never will? Wish I knew, and hope Apple figures it out for everyone's sake, including me if mine starts. But for now, I'm going to just use it and try not to think about it ;-).

Jan 9, 2015 4:18 PM in response to psikofunksterby Drumtosurprise,The only reason I can see for keeping the Snap Crackle Pop Air 2
Is a belief "That Apple Is Perfect".

Jan 9, 2015 4:23 PM in response to RobS10by psikofunkster,As far as we know the equalizer issue is a different sound. The problematic pop can occur even when you are reading an ebook in complete silence and its louder, it doesn't come from the speakers but appears to be from inside the device.
Same here i don't want to continue thinking about this issue.

Jan 9, 2015 4:22 PM in response to psikofunksterby Bshusky250,I exchanged mine 3 times they all popped I'm lucky that the popping is the worst of the problems I could of ended up with. My friend just bought one recently his just started popping after 3 weeks.

Jan 9, 2015 4:26 PM in response to RobS10by Sunny_Mz,Same for me - it only popped when I tested the scenario described by watchdogd.
But - you know what - I'm experiencing a very similar popping noise from my PC speakers, not very often - maybe once or twice / day (night), so it doesn't bother me all that much, but I'm really wondering if it has something to do with (static?) electricity as some people here wrote and I wonder if it could be the same for the Ipad.
