Jan 22, 2015 3:50 PM in response to psikofunksterby rbrylawski,I know that was directed at me. But have you not read that some others have found Tim Cook's email address (by a simple Google search), wrote him and got a reply, not likely from him directly, but a reply from someone in his office none-the-less.

Jan 22, 2015 5:08 PM in response to Garth1988by Shockvalue1,Well I've finally given up on getting a non popping unit (the latest was from a recent batch this year manufactured) and fully returned it. However just prior to this I was emailed by a senior technician who told me that Apple engineering were aware of it, had deemed it a software fault and were were working on a fix. It was a matter of waiting. "This is not a hardware issue on the device". Not optimal I know, but if a software issue then at least some hope for a fix(maybe). I point out this was in a personal email addressing my case, to my knowledge not publicly acknowleged. The replacement "(not so)merry go round" can be both stressful and tiring so I decided to opt out!

Jan 23, 2015 8:53 AM in response to psikofunksterby Alphacatt,Psikofunkster,
I am not an Apple employee or anyone special to Apple. They have treated me poorly in the past but after using their devices over the last almost 30 years I have learned how to cover my back side when it comes to Apple. I do a lot of research and I have a really good IT guy that manages my companies electronics. I have used PC's (other manufactures) and found them to be fundamentally too complicated and for every one bad Apple product there are at least 15 bad anything else. Their software residential and Enterprise is second only to IBM, but with the new Apple and IBM deal I am sure the enterprise side to Apple will get a huge boost. I don't trust my companies computing needs to any device other than Apple. So I know you are frustrated but coming here to bash others and complain will not get you any closer to fixing your device.
I would suggest downloading these apps called GeekBench 3 Or Performance Test. After you down load any of those two or both apps close all your apps and run a bench mark test. When finished you will have scores to compare to healthy iPad Air 2's. If your scores are with in 20-50 points to the average iPad Air 2's there is nothing wrong with your device. With those tests make sure you you look at both dual core and single core results. in addition make sure under the description of your iPad it recognizes all three cores.
I am not trying to sell you an app but the GeekBench 3 app is the easiest to understand and follow. After you perform the test it will ask you to download your scores you click yes. It will send your scores and route you to their website where you can review other results. You simply search iPad Air 2 and it will give you all of the scores of other users.
Apple uses this app when checking your device. Read the directions. It will give you a great way to put your mind at ease regarding the device. Now if your numbers are really low compared to everyone else's you have proof Or you need to run the test again and if the results are the same than there you go. Both apps offer a website to compare your results to.
I Use both these test on my iDevises and the GeekBench on my Macs.
I Believe that if you are experiencing a loud pop it is hardware (the speaker) if it is faint it is probably an EQ preset by Apple that can be remedied with several free EQ apps.
I also like what Nopcinhere said regarding recording the event. We record all shipments that come in for quality control regarding the delivery services. You would be amazed how many shipments I have received that the box looked like someone crushed it. The delivery companies always want Proof so we video the receiving. I am going to install some cameras in my office as well in addition record when I receive something from home too.
I Wish you the best.

And those are great news, hope they fix it via software.

Jan 23, 2015 9:45 AM in response to Alphacattby psikofunkster,Hi Alphacatt, it has never been my intention to bash you, (perhaps rbrylawsky but that's a different story and obviously Apple) i only wish Apple give me the same treatment you are getting in the States, which i still find pretty unbeliveable, i mean only using online chat you get a brand new replacement at home???, but good for you.
BTW i have 0 hopes of getting my device fixed unless it is via software in the future.
Gonna run those tests.

Jan 23, 2015 10:21 AM in response to Alphacattby psikofunkster,Benchmark done: 1819 (Average is 1808) still the device pops, but i knew that already and that's exactly one of the problems with Apple, When you have an Apple tech that denies this issue and benchmarks my device he simply just going to return it to me and tell me: It has nothing! now go home...

Jan 24, 2015 3:35 AM in response to psikofunksterby DocHollywood,A interim report:
Apple sent me back my "pooping iPad Air 2 64GB" on the 6th of this month with the statement my iPad is working correctly. From this day to the 20th of this month my iPad popped only once. From the 20th up to now my iPad is popping several times a day.
Again.
I don’t what’s up at Apple but the whole story is a mess.
Presently, Apple knows much more about this issue than we know. Because of this the most of the discussion content is nonsense and is stealing us time.
Again.
1. Apple should officially ADMIT that they have a problem with Apple iPad Air 2 und should give the customers am small report about the current results.
2. Apple iPad Air 2 is a premium device. The customers exspect high quality. This is one problem of many (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6538224).
My opinion, don’t buy Apple products and ignore them at present. First they have to learn how to CARE correctly for their customers. No sales, money. This is the only language they understand.
I would like to organize one return day for all popping iPad Air 2 for every Apple Store in the world. On this day the whole Apple Store is full of unsatisfied Apple customers who can make a lot of trouble.
Date poposals for Apple Store Düsseldorf? 28.02.2015?

Jan 24, 2015 3:44 AM in response to DocHollywoodby David Bedford,So on that given date we all just "Pop" into our local Apple Store ! Could be noisy !
Alhought I think it's a hardware issue, has ANYONE had ANY secondary issues besides the popping noise? For one it my iPad didn't pop now and then I wouldn't know there was a fault, as I have no other issues at all..

Jan 24, 2015 5:04 AM in response to Garth1988by Tom O'Drain,II'm getting occasional pops too. I didn't have them on my week 44 64gb, but I exchanged it for a week 48 128gb.
IT only happens occasionally, and seems like it happens when the speaker powers up. My MacBook used to do the same thing, but a software update fixed it. I'm hoping apple can do that again.

Jan 24, 2015 8:34 AM in response to Shockvalue1by Tom O'Drain,I remember a number of years back when Apple came out with one of the versions of OS 10, my MacBook Pro had popping sound when the system turned on the speaker. It took a couple of months, but Apple issue a software update and the issue went away.
The iPad Air 2 is an amazing device, so I'll live with the pops for a little while. My warranty is up the end of the year, like everyone else. If Apple does not have a fix in the next couple months, then I'll bring in the unit and see what they can do about a hardware replacement. All Apple can sometimes be slow about fixing issues, they usually do the right thing in the end. If it turns out this is a hardware issue, i'm pretty sure they will take care of it at some point. This probably has more to do with the software that turns on and off the speaker, in order to conserve power. It's most likely just a recoding issue.

Jan 24, 2015 4:48 PM in response to Garth1988by williamnapple,Well, I'm back with an update. So I was on my third ipop air 2 and decided to return for a refund since I was within my 14 day return period. I just don't have time to do testing for apple and all they could do was throw new ipops my way. I think all ipops are affected. The odds of getting two new ones and one from the genius bar back stock (refurb?) with the same problem is a fluke. I went through the proper channels and reported my findings here and to support hoping they can fix the issue later. When they acknowledge the problem I'll be in line for another one for sure. Going back to my old PC and android phone is like going back to using rocks for tools.
I will say though, my experience although negative shows me how good service and support from apple is. They were truly helpful and made the experience as painless as it could be. I almost bought an iphone 6+ while I was there! I do believe they are working on the issue and that all of you will be helped when they do actually solve the hardware or software problem. My only complaint against them is that they are not communicating more with their customers that a fix is on they way, but to their credit they might not know what is causing it yet.

Jan 24, 2015 10:31 PM in response to Mr. Fazookusby alex55551,My iPad popps too, and yesterday even made a sharp whistle noise. Quick question thought, I'm taking my iPad in to the Apple Store tomorrow so they can have a look at it, but since the noise happens randomly I am worrying about how I can prove that my iPad makes the noise, so what makes the iPads make the noise? Keyboard?music?alerts?
