Feb 9, 2015 11:38 AM in response to Garth1988by Tscherb ,So 8.1.3 solves not the Problem?
Seems to be a hardware/software problem such as Alphacatt describes.

Feb 9, 2015 6:12 PM in response to Tscherbby ZANKU,There is a quick way to test the iPad in the presence of noise pop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ug1MLqfJA8
But I did not stop and went on.And did the same, only with iPhone 5C http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdFzdNz75I8 and part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNMJUWIuQNY
P.S.I think this proves a problem in iOS 8

Feb 9, 2015 9:43 PM in response to ZANKUby Morac,That's very interesting. While I couldn't exactly reproduce what you saw, I did see something odd on the sound settings page. I have the "change with buttons" option on. When I did the ringer test I moved the ringer volume all the way up to the top. I then started toggling the keyboard click off and on. The click noise did seem louder at first, but got quieter and I noticed that the ringer volune was moving down on it's own. It stopped at around 10% volume which was around what the music playback volume was. I repeated this a few times and then turned "change with buttons" off and could no longer reproduce it. Unfortunately I still couldn't reproduce it when I toggled it back on, so I have no idea what's going on.
I will say the loud pop does sound like a loud keyboard click at times, but the pop occurs at times when the keyboard click normally isn't sounding, like opening apps and the like. It may or may not be related.

Feb 10, 2015 10:57 AM in response to ZANKUby Air8,When I try this I'm getting a loud click that sounds like the usual keyboard click at very high volume. In my opinion it doesn't sound like the random pop which sounds more like a static discharge.

Feb 10, 2015 12:09 PM in response to Air8by ToastyFlake,I agree Air 8. I did this on my Air 2 and 6+ and it does sound like a loud keyboard click, not the same as the pop that plagued my previous Air 2. That sound was much more disconcerting.

Feb 11, 2015 10:32 AM in response to sanke1by Air8,With keyboard clicks enabled while doing the 'dangerous' things like repeatedly tapping the URL bar in Safari or opening Spotlight search?
-
Feb 11, 2015 11:19 AM in response to Garth1988by Tscherb ,Keyboard clicks were enabled while doing the dangerous thing. I felt very ridiculous here. But 'm just a technique hypochondriac.
Mysteriously the pop occurs often at 88% & 89%.

Feb 11, 2015 11:23 AM in response to Tscherbby David Bedford,Do you still get the clicking if you install a non Aple keyboard ?
-
Feb 11, 2015 11:38 AM in response to David Bedfordby Tscherb ,I have not tried it yet David. The Video was made immediately after the reset with Itunes with all standard settings!
And also various other reports describe the "POP" at 88-89%.
With my modest technical understanding I can only imagine that each Ipad Air 2 pops at 88-89% if you provoked it.
Next week I get a replacement unit and will see.
Sorry for my englisch i'am from Germany.

Feb 12, 2015 4:40 PM in response to Tscherbby t.david8763,I too have had this problem. Declined to accept replacement as it was a refurbished unit with cosmetic damage. However after restoring, and turning off keyboard clicks, I have yet to hear a pop (day 3). Hoping this is a software issue relating to the keyboard...seeing the "pop" replicated on the iPhone 5 is a promising siign.

Feb 12, 2015 7:49 PM in response to Garth1988by Mythtery,Try backing up your iPad Air 2, resetting it ( Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Contents and Settings ) and selecting "Set up as New iPad" when prompted to restore a previous backup.
Why?:
My original iPad Air 2 had the same problem. That is:
- Very loud popping sound, irrespective of volume settings.
- Typically occurs at the first sound output after powering on / restarting the iPad.
- Occured following 1 in 3 power ups / restarts, but can also occur after prolonged use.
- No sound after the popping sound until the iPad is restarted.
Apple (UK) were fairly good, offering an identical replacement, which I accepted.
However, once I'd restored my iCloud backup, the replacement iPad exhibited the exact same problem in every single respect. I was pretty much resigned to returning the iPad Air 2 for another replacement or refund, but thought I should at least try to reproduce the problem in the same circumstances that Apple's repair specialists would use. That is, devoid of any backup legacy.
I reset my iPad ( Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Contents and Settings ) and selected "Set up as a New iPad". I then manually configured the iPad as I would normally have it set up. The result was no sound problems (which explains why some people are finding Apple unable to recreate the problem). I have since installed just a few trusted (commercial) apps from my AppStore purchases.
I have yet to experience a single popping sound in the 3 days since, despite provoking it with frequent restarts. This leads me to believe that either my iCloud backup (originally created on an iPad 3, since updated by my iPad Air 2) either had some form of corruption / incompatibility, or perhaps one of the previously installed apps had tampered with the sound library.
Suspecting the iCloud backup formerly used on my iPad Air 2, I then restored it onto my iPad 3. The result: While my iPad 3 experienced no loud popping sounds, sound output was often distorted (at normal volume) roughly 1 in 3 restarts. Restoring an earlier iPad 3 backup (i.e. one never updated by my iPad Air 2) returned my iPad 3 back to normal, error-free behaviour.
So, while I'm not entirely ruling out hardware issues, I now strongly suspect the problem is rooted in incompatible / corrupt backups (possibly created on older iOS devices) and / or resulting from installing specific apps fiddling with the sound library (although I have yet to determine a likely culprit).

Incidentally, it's a good idea to test your iPad Air 2's sound by playing a short, quiet sample IMMEDIATELY after restarting your iPad. I use Settings > Sounds > TextTone > Note. The reason: If the sound glitches while playing a long, highly saturated sample (e.g. many of the apple ringtones), the resultant pop may well be prolongued, very loud and destorted rendition of the intended sample. As such the longer sample will be more likely to cause damage to the speaker.
