Feb 26, 2015 10:47 AM in response to Garth1988by berfle,I've have also had this problem periodically since I purchased my new iPad Air 2 last year. It's annoying but it's good to know that I'm not the only one. I was afraid that my iPad might be defective.

Feb 26, 2015 12:48 PM in response to psikofunksterby NOYB234,I said I wasn't going to respond to you but I could not resist. Oh 25 points, then you should know exactly what is wrong, with all those solution points? By the way they are not popularity points there points awarded if you solved someones problem. If you ran a benchmark test and it was with in the average there really is nothing wrong with your iPad. You stated you did and all the scores were good so there you go. Your iPA2 is fine. Enjoy it and ignore the snapping noise.
OTher than that judging by your past posts you don't want help. I wish you well and I hope you find what ever it is you are looking for. Ciao. END LINE

Feb 26, 2015 12:51 PM in response to berfleby NOYB234,Berfle, you are not alone try taking it back and see if the exchanged one is fine. Or just deal some say they keep getting exchanges with the same issue others are saying their replacement was fine. Good hunting.

Feb 26, 2015 12:54 PM in response to berfleby NOYB234,berfle,
i forgot to mention i have six cellular December build not a peep. I have five WiFi and only one makes a quiet snapping noise ever so often but all the benchmarks and Diagonstic test say everything is good. So far they all work as they should even the one that snaps.

Feb 26, 2015 1:45 PM in response to NOYB234by Fridu,I had a long phone call today with Apple support about my problem loosing the sound fully and having pop noises when I put my SIM-Card into the iPad Air2. They did take the logfiles about conflicts and crashes directly from my device and found a lot of conflicts. Finally after looking at all they told me to reset it again to factory settings, to set it up again and then try. It did work Sound with SIM card is back. So they told me they have such cases, something wrong in the backup. They told me I may not use the backup to restore the device or I will get the problem back again. That is really nice, doing all from zero again, building the App groups and so on. I must all do new and it works fine, pop sounds have gone. I believe something in the backups went wrong and as everybody always uses these backups when buying a new device to restore it the problem get's bigger. At least I deleted my backups now and setup the iPad from scratch. A lot of work, but if it works then it's worth it.

Feb 27, 2015 4:48 AM in response to Garth1988by RobS10,I want to run the benchmarks everyone is quoting results from, but this thread has gotten so long, it's hard to pick out. What's a good, thorough, safe benchmark test to run on my Air 2? Is something like Primate labs Geekbench 3 a place to start?
Thanks

Feb 27, 2015 8:08 AM in response to RobS10by Air8,Yes, Geekbench 3 or PerformanceTest Mobile from Passmark Software Inc. or AnTuTu Benchmark are often used to get an overwiew. Some other apps like GFXBench GL are more specialized, for instance to test graphics performance mainly.

Mar 3, 2015 5:38 AM in response to Garth1988by -Architecton-,No new popping incidents have been reported for a while now. So is it logical to assume that the faulty batch has been identified and taken off circulation? Do you guys think It's now safe to buy?

Mar 4, 2015 2:55 AM in response to D1G1TALrainby Tallaron,This popping sound is a hardware issue I'm sure of...reason, I've had mine crash, screen do strange things, lose sound and do nothing. You just never know what or if something will happen. To me it seems to be like a static pop..and here in iowa where it's cold we have a lot of static this time of year. But still I have an iPad 2 and this don't happen! I am now on my 4th iPad Air 2. I have been able to create the problem on my first 3 but this last one doesn't do it nearly as often as the other 3 did. The 1st 3 did it daily and this new one could take days to do it. I'm a big apple fan but this thing has problems! Some people think it has something to do with the speaker cause the sound comes from there and it could be...but think about it, where else is the sound going to come out of an enclosed case...where it has holes.

Mar 4, 2015 5:56 AM in response to -Architecton-by sup330,I am on my second IPad Air 2 and this one is also popping irritating but getting used to it until Apple admits something is wrong. keeping an eye out on this thread. I bought mine two weeks ago.

Mar 4, 2015 6:11 AM in response to sup330by -Architecton-,Could you please locate the manufacturing date of your iPop Air 2 and report back to us? Simply go to this website and enter your serial number.
Tallaron I'd really appreciate it if you could tell us yours as well.
I think that by identifying the production weeks of the faulty batch we might be able to avoid them.
Thank you!
