Q: iPad air 2 pop noise

Rehtus,  you should return it to target for a refund if you can.  I returned my first one to Staples for a refund.  Last week bought the 2nd one at Apple store with a 2015 manuf date, and it POPS too!   Totally UNSAT!

My (3rd) iPad Air 2 is still making the noises, I can't imagine that the other customers don't find this issues. I feel like it doesn't matter if I exchange it or not.

When reading this forum it does seem to have to do with the keyboard, it seems random but perhaps their is a logical explanation. Most of the "pops" that scare you a little because you don't expect them happens with apps like : Telegram, Safari and Pages. They all have the keyboard in common.

Does anyone have a solution or work-a-round already?

I've heard mine pop when hitting play on YouTube... It only pops when something starts up, I never hear it pop in the middle of a song or video....only when the speaker first gets juice.   I don't think I've ever heard mine pop when using the keyboard.  My guess is that the sound / speakers are in off mode until you hit a key with that "click" sound as you hit each key.  It turns on the speaker and then "POP".  Volt surge or something like that Into the tiny speaker.

I Hear you, calvol.  You just convinced me NOT to return it now knowing that the 2015 models make the pop sound.  Wow.... not good on Apple's part.  Mine only pops once a day and only when I start the speaker, not in the middle of something all the time..... so I guess I'm  one of the fortunate ones.  If it wasn't for all my purchases on the App Store, I'd think about getting a Samsung because this isn't getting fixed.

Yeah, it's too bad Apple hasn't fixed this-- I know exactly what this is, because I've seen it in the audio conferencing market with Polycom.  The DSP buffers cannot handle a "spike" in volume change, like switching on music.  The transient surge causes a buffer overflow, the buffers are cleared, and that's what causes the "pop".  It's either the the DSP algorithm itself (in firmware), which can be fixed, or the DSP chip, which is a hardware problem, and can't be fixed until the next silicon version.  Too bad, great machine otherwise.  I'm going to buy the Sony Xperia Compact 8.4" and will revisit the iPad Air 3 next year.

Apple has scrambled the serial number for 2015! 

Chipmunk cannot decode manuf week!  I posted this on page 62 earlier.

This is Apple's way of admitting there is a problem with iPad Air 2!

YYou have a refurbished iPad! You didn't take it out of a white box did ya? If you didn't and they handed you the iPad or I came from a brown box then it's refurbished. And you can get refurbished at the Apple Store.

How do you know your iPad was manufactured in 2015 then????

This unit is brand new from Apple Store purchased last week.  I specifically asked for fresh stock after I first got a unit with manuf date of Wk 46.  Store clerk went back and got one from latest shipment.

All 2014's posted here had manuf date. Easy to deduce, Apple has scrambled the code for 2015 to reduce number of returns of iPop.

Note: it was not in a refurb box.

So basically you just assumed it was made in 2015 then... That's not very useful I'm afraid.

Don't worry though, I'm in contact with a chipmunk representative who is looking into the issue.

Hi, nice theory but mine specific pops at certain intervals of battery, pretty much currently at 94% i can expect a pop, it doesn't matter what i'm doing, i got another at 91% and 88% too today, its popping too much, right now im gonna perform  a clean installation of 8.2 just in case.

IMO Battery is also related with the pops

Not so fast my friend, I "deduced" it was made in 2015 given the logic above.

You have "assumed" it was not made in 2015 because a manuf date was not given by Chipmunk-- not a very logical conclusion.

Man, iTunes services not working properly currently better wait that restoration for later.

Apple Certified Refurbished devices have altered serial numbers. Chipmunk does not always recognize those.

If you want to know exactly when you iPop was made you should send an email to Chipmunk with your serial number and they'll tell you all about it.
