Q: iPad air 2 pop noise

My iPad Air 2 randomly has a "Pop Noise" out of the speaker. it happens randomly about once or twice a day when touching the screen or pressing a button. Has anybody else experienced this issue? Could it be a software issue or has it more likely to do with the hardware?

    You clearly misunderstood the statements.

    I clearly didnt. What is your point? That apple awares their customers that the replacement they are gonna receive in exchange is refurbished?

    Since the replacements are refurbs, have always been refurbs, and Apple has clearly told this to its customers since the very beginning, you obviously misunderstood the statements.

    No i didnt.  However this is not the first time an Apple representative lies to me then ( i mean according to you), not only one but two already assuring me my possible replacement was going to be new. Inside a brown box yes but new. An Apple lady via phone assured me many many times Apple doesnt give refurbished units in return.

    No, you are being pretty narrow minded here and you will never admit somehow the contrary.

    I'd love to post their names here but i know that is not allowed so....

     

    LOL i can see the scenario:

     

    Apple tech: Sir, we have good news for you, we are going to give you a replacement unit but it is NOT new it is a refurbished piece, now take it with you, go home and be happy...

     

    Satisfied customer:  Thank you, a refurbished replacement, just what i was expecting, ty! ty! LOL.

    4th ipop and this is what it did after a pop. You never know if it will do anything when it pops...most of the time it don't seem to.

    Apple state that new or refurbished units or parts will be used in the T@C's if an exchange is needed after the initial 14 day period, refurbished units are indistinguishable from new units, although even new units can arrive damaged. Apple saying they are giving you a new unit means a replacement to the one you have which is therefore new to you, not a brand new out of the retail box unit. Also the iPad Air 2 has been around long enough for refurbs to be on offer I imagine. That's how the system works take it or leave it but a refurb should be as good if not better than a new unit as its had more attention to detail than factory units built ones. This is the way most companies work. If your car goes wrong after a year they won't give you a whole new car...

    1) LOL, new for me but not for them you are saying?.....and what do you think about that? i pretty much call it dishonesty.

     

    2) As i already mentioned before many many times, the Apple lady via phone assured me Apple doesn't manage refurbished units. They are new and come in special boxes without the chargers or manuals. I didn't belive her but that's what she said though.

     

    3) Refurbished: In computer technology, refurbished refers to "old" or used computer equipment that has been restored to like-new working condition and/or appearance. It may also refer to any computer device that has been sent back to the factory to fix a flaw.

    Of course I didn't take it and regarding leaving it.....Yes! i pretty much promise not to buy an ipad again ever unless this issue is fixed via software or a real new replacement is handed to me (which no pops obviusly), currently i have 0 hopes.

     

    4) Regarding the refurbished being better....Killhippie, there are people here who has received a replacement which still pops so..... i put that in doubt.

     

    5) Problem this is not a car and not a year has passed, this is an ipad and i reported this issue only after 3 weeks after i bought it and this is one of the richest companies in the entire world!. The first answer i received from the Apple engineers via an Apple Supervisor was: Sir that pop is completely normal. My 2 cents.

    Simply put Apple have quite openly said they will offer refurb phones and iPads. I have had refurbished phones and they have been perfect, I was not saying refurb iPad Air 2's are better per se but in general they have had more attention paid to them than new factory units. I cant see what the problem is, you obviously mistook what the Apple representative said. Its even there for you to read on the Apple site if you bothered to look. This is a site for people wanting help and you obviously don't want that. As far as the popping sound I hardly hear mine now and cant actually remember the last time I did notice it tbh, yes its not as it should be but its also a first world problem as I see it. Live with it to see if it gets fixed, or move on the choice is yours. Have a nice day.

    To psikofunkster,

    No offense,  but what do you hope to accomplish by continually complaining and countering everyone who has tried to help you? I'm sorry if your iPad experience hasn't gone the way you hoped, but has posting over and over again on this tread advanced what you're trying to accomplish, or are you just blowing off steam?

    Why do you think i'm still here RobS10? Becuse i'm in love with this thread and as you ironically said i love to blow off steam as a hobbie?

     

    No, i'm still here because my problem hasn't been solved satisfactory by Apple, each time i use my brand new ipad it pops and that happens pretty much daily, it constantly reminds me i'm here. Also i only post when i have something to say or when somebody quotes me like you are doing right now.

     

    Regading the "countering" you are mentioning, would you believe i feel exactly the same? i mean not everybody but pretty much you can tell from time to time when somebody appears here apparently trying to help but their real intention is just antagonize not help. Aka Phily_Phan.

     

    Having said that if you want to help me, ask Apple to give me a brand new sealed ipad (no refurbished cr@p) which doesn't pops, that will do it and i will be pretty much out of this thread i promise.

     

    Now if you don't really like what i'm posting here pretty much ignore me or unsub this thread and problem solved for you.

    Now i get it, as you mentioned above you are paranoid and also being lazy of reading these lenghty threads, i see, well the solution is pretty simple stop reading it and psychotherapy may help, good luck.

    I BELIEVE NOW the problem for ipad air 2 is HARDWARE guys.

    Apple is not good company. I have change 2 times  with NEW ipad air 2 and AGAIN i have pop noise.

    Never again ipad for me.

    NOW I think Surface pro 3 is better BUT it's not tablet but laptop for me.

    (i have ios 8.2 and i have again pop noise)

    I've read more than a few posts about iOS updates that cause more problems than they fix. Wanted to avoid that.

    I returned my popping iPad Air 2 just before Christmas and then purchased a new one that has remained pop free through all IOS upgrades.  If yours hasn't popped, it's probably not going to and I haven't seen anything that indicated an new version of IOS caused one to start popping.

    My iPad Air 2 only pops about once a day when I first start the speakers after a charge above 95%.  I can live with it.  I plan on getting the "iPad air 2 Plus" once it comes out....... I'm gonna sell this one to pay for half of the iPad Plus.  Hopefully next October, so I can put up with the pop for 6 more months.
