What application are you using to scan with?
Do you get an error message when you attempt to save the selected section of the image or are you saying that you don't get the option to scan the document?
mp navigator v 2.2.5
no error messages. buttons for saving grayed out scanning works fine
With the button being greyed out, maybe you need to select a portion of the image before it will become available. If you position your mouse in one corner of the overviewed image and then drag the mouse to the opposite corner, does this action make the Scan button available.
Thanks for the screen shot. So this looks like the MP Navigator application for 10.8 is not fully compatible with 10.10. You may need to look at using another scanning application that will work with the MP530 TWAIN scanner driver, as I doubt that Canon is going to update this application for Yosemite since they didn't do so for Mavericks.
Vuescan is one application that works with TWAIN scanner drivers and lists the MP530 as a supported device.
Thank you for your time and interest. I stumbled on another work around. On the Navigator's main page there is a button at the bottom that says " scan with scanner driver. " I've never used it before however when you hit that another page opens which looks completely different than the usual one but which allows for saving the image. I've attached screen shots for your perusal.
Thanks for posting those new images. That is a good workaround and a cheaper solution than buying Vuescan.
It is too bad that Canon's answer is for us to buy another machine...not gonna happen (at least not another Canon). I did buy VueScan in order to use another older scanner, and it allows me to scan from the MP530. Unfortunately, printing functions on the MP530 are also more limited than they used to be- I can't print a specific size photo from most applications, and can't get the colors to match either. It is so wasteful that they won't support thier products. Good luck.

It's not just Canon. The MP530 was released in May 2006. My expensive Mac Pro that was also released in 2006 wouldn't install Mountain Lion (10.8), let alone Yosemite, and it cost 10 times more than your MP530.
So good luck to you with your next purchase. Make sure you ask the sales person if the new printer will be still be supported in 2022.
Considering reverting to Mavericks here as well. Has anyone receive any response from Canon on this MP530 driver compatibility issue?
