Q: family sharing

With family sharing is there a way that each family member pays for their own purchases? or does the organizer have to pay for everything.

All purchases are charged to the family organizer's credit card.  The only workaround is for other members of the family group to purchase and redeem iTunes store gift cards to create a credit on their accounts.  Their charges would then be deducted from their credit before any balance due would be charged to the organizer's card.

Has this been verified?  I was fairly certain I had a credit, but my wife's credit card was charged.  Worse, I haven't discovered how to find my balance  (or history of credits) despite mucking through pages and pages...

AAll I can say is that's how it's supposed to work.  From Family purchases and payments - Apple Support:

"After you set up your family, any time a family member initiates a new purchase it will be billed directly to your account unless that family member has gift or store credit. First, their store credit will be used to pay the partial or total bill. The remainder will bill to the family organizer's card."
