Q: Hp-ENVY 7640 e-All-in One Series for OS Yosemite

I just bought the Hp-ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Series printer. Now when I installing it, it turns out that it only has software for OS version 10.7, 10.8, 10.9... and I just downloaded OS Yosemite 10.10. How can I install this printer? do I have to/can I even go back to 10.10? Thanks

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

Both Apple and HP have the software for this printer for OS X Yosemite, possibly several older versions too. The installation is actually very smooth, provided you did things in the right sequence. Here is what I just learned, having had trouble with it's feature 'scan to computer'.

    1. Start Here: first unpack and install your printer, ignore your Mac for now, just the printer

    2. Connect your printer to your Wi-Fi network, part of the printer setup

    3. Once you've seen the test print page, you are ready to connect it to your computer and have the right drivers installed.

    4. Go to your Mac, System Preferences, Printers and Scanners

    5. Right-Click on a empty space inside the "Printers" list panel, choose "Reset printing system"

    6. Go to Finder, remove any HP printer utility or software you might already have in place

    7. Reboot your Mac (just to be absolutely sure it's spring clean)

    8. Go to System Preferences, if you now try to add a printer, it will automatically find your printer and install the correct driver, everything works
