iphone 5c does not receive phone calls but sends directly to voicemail

I just purchased my Iphone 5c and thought it was set-up pretty well. I am able to connect to my wireless, email, facebook, etc. I can dial and connect to other phones. However, I am unable to receive any phone calls placed to my number. For some reason, all incoming voice calls go directly to my voicemail. I cannot seem to find the complication or problem setup. I have installed the newest version of software 8.1 (12B411) and Verizon is my network. The model number is MGFJ2LL/A with carrier Verizon 18.0. I have tried the online help and suggestions and they don't seem to work either. Any help?

It sounds like may have tried a few things already, but I would recommend performing all the troubleshooting steps outlined in the article below.

Hi chris,

I have the same issue after iOS 8.1 update. Try to disable the LTE. Settings- Cellular- disable LTE.

Apple is working on it to find out why this is happening.

Have you checked to see if you have Do Not Disturb turned on? That would prevent the reception of phone calls. You can check it in Settings, Control Center, or by looking at the status bar to see if a small crescent moon icon is visible by the battery icon.

I ended up calling customer support. It turns out they hadn't fully enabled the phone because the number was a carry over from a "go" phone. It took less than 24 hours to get the thing to answer calls once they threw the switch.
