Try restoring the iPad with it connected to your computer and doing the restore from iTunes on your computer.

Oct 26, 2014 7:52 PM in response to Mmh6596by Kappy,iDevices are closed systems unless they are jailbroken. That means they cannot get viruses or malware unless an infected app got onto the iTunes Store because it was overlooked by the app checkers prior to putting the app in the store.

Oct 27, 2014 3:50 AM in response to Star Travelerby nitewish,I guess it's not a virus, it's iOS 8.1. The update caused the same problems on my iPad 2. Try the restore hints from above they might make it a bit better.
I set up mine "as new" and this did help a bit.
