Q: Cant' log into Facetime on my macbook pro

Hi,

I'm not able to login to Facetime on my MacBook pro, but I have my apple ID verified, etc, and it works fine on Itunes. I keep getting a message about the network or something. This just recently changed and I'm not sure why? I have all the updates to the OS, etc,. I can't figure it out.. I did recently change my Apple ID Password trying to get into facetime and then verified it thinking this might fix it?

Thanks

    Hello Tim,

The article linked below details a number of items to check and troubleshooting as well that can help get your signed into FaceTime on your Mac.

    Hi Allen,

I checked all those links and I think I found the problem maybe. I originally bought my Mac Book Pro at a pawn shop where I work. I didn't know that I needed to erase the OS and install again, etc,. I also found out that my Mac Book Pro probably has a new logic board as it has no serial number. I'm at work now and on my acer Chrome book, but I want to use the Mac Book pro for the New Swift Language and to learn the same. I'm a software engineer by trade or was in the past before contracting an illness and want to get back into it, but that's another story.

Anyway, I'm not sure, but I'm wondering if I'm locked out because of the fact that my mac book pro is tied to the original owner or the ID of the original owner and of course I don't know his password or mac ID, but I'm not able to get certain OS updates for instance because of this. Then to top it all off I spilled coke on the keyboard  by accident. So, now it also needs cleaned, although it works perfect with the wireless mouse and apple wired keyboard. So, I'm kinda stuck not knowing what to do. I'm thinking I should probably take it to a service center / apple store? I'd like to get the hardware associated with my apple ID, but if you know of an easier way, please let me know as I can work on hardware too and thought that when I have time I'd take it apart and clean it, etc,.

Someone told me I could format it, and then use a USB thumb drive with the OS loaded on it, to reload the same on the mac book pro? This makes sense being that one can upgrade or get the OS for free by downloading it. It originally came with "Snow Leopard"  I think it was called? I'ts a Pentium I7 processor and has 8gb of ram and a 500gb hard drive. Very nice machine! Love it.. But, I just want it to be associated with me and for facetime to work.. I plan on getting another apple product as well, but I'd like facetime to work so my GF can use it with me if I get an Iphone.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the lengthy reply, but a lot to it.

    Regards

    Tim
