Macbook air suddenly doesnt turn on, gives 1 long beep every 5 seconds

I have been googling and found out there is something wrong with the RAM in my Macbook Air. Suddeny, without anything strange I did, my Macbook Air doesn't go on but stays black and gives a long single beep every 5 seconds. That is really all it does.

Does this really mean all I can do is go to an apple store and get a whole new board?

I hope some of you have alternative answers :-). Many thanks!

What a great week, both my Ipad and Macbook Air are dying....

Thanks Kappa, unfortunately the first thing doesnt work on a Macbook Air as things are welded/solded onto the board. The second link is indeed what I found before, it means the RAM is disconnected or broken.

My question remains: Is there anything I can try myself before taking it to the store? (as taking to the store probably means I have to give up on my Mac because repairing is hundreds of euros....)
