Problem to install USB 3g modem Huawei E3131

I use the very same huawei device which does not work on os x yosemite,i have been in contact with huawei and they have told me to watch their website for any software upgrades for os x yosemite,so far there is none

I Don't know when the new software for OS x Yosemite will be released by huawei,but last year the software was released 2 months after OS x Mavericks was released,so I would imagine it may take a while Claus

Remove old version of application and install HiLink.app from archive.

After that, inser e3131 and go to http://192.168.1.1 - upgrade software on modem

The best way to fix this problem is to go to the huawei website,browse through the downloads page and look up for any updates for huawei 3g devices to work with os x yosemite,it worked perfectly well for me a few months ago after i downloaded and installed the update.

I am very sorry to read of your misfortune claus,the main reason why i post this suggestion in the apple open forum is because a good few people have informed me that this software upgrade has worked out quite brilliantly,you made the point that you did this a few months ago,but have you tried again recently where there have many more software upgrades by huawei?

This is the fix for using a Huawei 3131 with Yosemite 10.10.3. It might work with 10.10.1 but maybe not, so consider updating to 10.10.3 first. Hopefully it will work with all subsequent 10.10.X. It takes only a few minutes...

1. Download the above file from the Huawei site (through wifi or copy from another device)

2. Open it (unzip)

3. It contains an exec file and a pdf. Read the pdf and follow the instructions, including the check for the current version installed. You may have to go to Settings > Security & Privacy > Allow apps downloaded from: > Anywhere

4. You did check the installed version didn't you (see step 3)? It should be 22.001.26.01.03

4. Connect the dongle

5. Dongle should now autorun. If not open a web page and go to 192.168.1.1

6. Dongle connection page may ask you to download a further update - if so, do. Then install it.

7. Enjoy using your Huawei 3131 dongle with Yosemite 10.10.3

8. Remember to reset your Settings > Security & Privacy > Allow apps downloaded from: > Mac App Store and identified developers.
