Problem to install USB 3g modem Huawei E3131

Hello,

10.9 was ok for using a Huawei E3131 USB 3G Stick, but now with 10.10 the OS does not find the 3G stick, but only a partition with an app.

Opening 192.168.1.1 does not work, too.

I found a "new" driver (for 10.9) but it does not work either, installed MobilePartner (?).

The support of the local phone provider (?) has no idea (because its a mac, the "funny" answer was toi buy a windows pc). i also went to a local apple store and tested the stick (on 10.10.) with the same result.

Any ideas????

Thank you

Claus

Hello Denis,

thank you for the reply! I hope the manage to release an update. Maybe you can post an info here after they published something?!

I hope it will be an easy to install firmware upgrade ... Or I have to wait for the phone company to update the firmware?! well, we will see...

Thank you

Claus

I am very sorry to read of your misfortune claus, the main reason why i post this suggestion in the apple open forum is because a good few people have informed me that this software upgrade has worked out quite brilliantly, you made the point that you did this a few months ago,but have you tried again recently where there have many more software upgrades by huawei?

This is the fix for using a Huawei 3131 with Yosemite 10.10.3. It might work with 10.10.1 but maybe not, so consider updating to 10.10.3 first. Hopefully it will work with all subsequent 10.10.X. It takes only a few minutes...

1. Download the above file from the Huawei site (through wifi or copy from another device)

2. Open it (unzip)

3. It contains an exec file and a pdf. Read the pdf and follow the instructions, including the check for the current version installed. You may have to go to Settings > Security & Privacy > Allow apps downloaded from: > Anywhere

4. You did check the installed version didn't you (see step 3)? It should be 22.001.26.01.03

4. Connect the dongle

5. Dongle should now autorun. If not open a web page and go to 192.168.1.1

6. Dongle connection page may ask you to download a further update - if so, do. Then install it.

7. Enjoy using your Huawei 3131 dongle with Yosemite 10.10.3

8. Remember to reset your Settings > Security & Privacy > Allow apps downloaded from: > Mac App Store and identified developers.

Hope that helps. Worked perfectly for me 🙂
