wifi keeps turning off

Very similar problem here. Since I installed the 10.10.1 update, now my wifi turns itself off on its own. Fortunately for me I can turn it back on manually.

Just yesterday, I caught it in the act. It turned itself off right at midnight. Not sure if the time is significant or not, but I closed the lid on my Macbook Pro 17inch late 2011 (Apple, you couldn't come up with a better way to identify your computers?????) and reopened the lid a few seconds later and the wifi had turned itself off. I turned the wifi back on again and then closed the lid and reopened it, but the wifi did NOT turn itself off again (so it s probably NOT related to closing the lid).

As with you, I have no problems at all before the update, and i have gone through all of the suggested fixes with no improvement. The wifi still turns itself of once per day for no reason I can see.

I tried the TUAW suggestion and it didn't work for me. WIFI keeps turning off every time I wake from sleep on my iMac.

OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 Combo Update

Did the upgrade from Maverick and seem to have strange WiFi issue. I am connected to my local network and yet I have lost internet connection and cannot get any web access. Tried both Safari and Chrome. Only solution has been to turn off WiFi and turn back on. I even try accessing the router settings through browser and even though I think I am connected to router I cannot even access anything locally. Its definitely a Yosemite issue, I had none with Maverick and I have tried either band 2.4 and 5 Ghz connections. Will continue to try things but this is kind of frustrating.

I tried the Update 10.10.2 which appears to address this issue. But it does not seem to have helped my issue. I will try and do the Combo update with your download link instead of through auto update to see if that works.

I will try the combo update and see if that does the trick. The only difference I can find between my iMac (drops WiFi when waking) and my MBPro (doesn't drop WiFi when waking) is that I'm able to use Continuity on my iMac but not my laptop (it's too old and won't support it). Other than that both computers are setup exactly the same.

I have a similar problem.

I have a laptop OS X Yosemite 10.10.5.

I have used my wifi for months but recently went to the local library and used they WIFI. Back home I couldn't get back to my home wifi. So, did change my preference network. Then , the problem became more serious. My wifi turns off after 20 minutes .

Went to read few tips online . I did:

1-I removed network configuration and preferences files . Put ?library/preferences?System configuration/ (I put the file in the trash , still there because I'm scared to have done something wrong). It didn't help.

2-I went to Advanced then change Networks, ok Apply .It didn't change .

3- I wanted to do renew DHCP lease but I need a ID client and I don't know where to find it .

I have to say that when I use BBC iplayer I can't watch it as long as I want and the Wifi doesn't turn off ??Weird!!!

If someone could help me to solve the issue . I can't keep turning my computer off and on constantly.

Also try turning off Bluetooth.

If your Wi-Fi source is capable of generating a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network, try that to help avoid conflicts with Bluetooth.
