duplicate photos import into iPhoto

Hi, I think it is a bug in the beta, however try turning off your photo stream, see how that works

I have iCloud Photo Library (Beta) turned On.

I have also set it to "Download and Keep Originals", since i sync to iPhoto manually at my desk.

I am having the same issue too. I just noticed it today when I imported photos from my iPhone6. I don't think I had this issue the last time I connected my phone to iPhoto. I am not using iCloud Photo Library (Beta) on my phone. So I don't think that is the culprit in my case.

I took some pictures on my DSLR and imported them in to iPhoto. NO duplicates! I am guessing the issue is with iOS.

I just tried to import my wife's iPhone photos for the first time in six months. iCloud PhotoStreaming on, HDR off. Saw duplicates on the iPhoto iPhone import screen and hoped that they would be recognized as such and not duplicated in iPhoto (latest version, 9.6). No luck - duplicates were imported. Updated the iPhone to iOS 8.1.2 and the duplicates no longer display! To get rid of the duplicates just imported to iPhoto, I searched for "_2" and moved all to trash. Be careful not to delete if your sequence of photos include names like "img_2***" or "dsc_2***".

TNee: exactly same problem and same solution applied as yours!

Best to clean Library by searching 0_2, 1_2, 2_2 etc. This way you don't delete files like IMG_2003!

I am with you jdlumagbas as I am having the same problem as you and did the same thing with my DSLR camera and no duplicates. It never did this before and just started doing it over the last 2 weeks.

Had the same issue. This worked for me: unplug iPhone from Macbook, turn off the Bluetooth either on my iPhone or on my Macbook, plug back in, the duplicates went away. It might have something to do with enabling the Airdrop between my iPhone and Macbook?

The Bluetooth is off on my Mac book Pro and also on my iPhone. But still getting duplicates in iPhoto.

Got the same problem. I'm a frequent user of iPhoto, and just out of the blue I got everything double. Thought it was me, but now I'm sure it's not.

Any one any idea how to fix?

in iPhoto, go to iPhoto/Preferences/Advanced and unclick --> Importing: Copy items to the photo library (it was checked by default when i look - can't remember selecting that myself).

Thanks it worked for me. But what is the point of that "Copy items to the iPhoto Library" ? And why would it default to it?
