Just finished installing Yosemite today and haven't had any real issues...however, I've noticed that two-finger scrolling doesn't work in Microsoft Word for mac. It works fine in many other applications (including other Microsoft apps--Excel & PowerPoint), but not Word.
I've looked for any scrolling options that may be "unchecked" in the preferences, but haven't found any.

Word fixed this issue in the new update. All you have to do is download the latest update, 14.4.5!
Help --> Check for Updates --> Install
M.Had is right, but installing the MS Word update didn't result in two finger scrolling working for me until I restarted my machine.
I second your comment donline . The feature was not working for me and I had already installed all the updates. I have to scroll in MS Word using an old USB mouse...this is not a desirable workaround.
I updated and restarted. Still had that issue on and off.
I found that restarting does solve the problem but if I use Word for extended periods of time while just putting the machine to sleep (between uses), the problems reoccurs.
I'm having the same issue. However, I have restarted and it still won't work. This is extremely frustrating as I have the latest updates and everything but it doesn't work and I keep forgetting every time I try to scroll.
I'm also having the issue of whenever my Mac goes to sleep or if I turn it off, the log in screen says there are updates necessary. I feel like this is a bug because I've updated my computer like 20 times in the past few days...
It happened today again. I saved my work, restared MS Word and it was normal again. I could scroll with two fingers.
What does this updates necessary message you're talking about say exactly? Is it about Word or OSX ?
14.4.6 update out now, which may smooth out some of the scrolling issues.. (I am yet to see the scrolling issue with this version).
I updated to 14.4.6, but not sure if the scrolling issue appeared before or after the update.
Regardless, I restarted and the scrolling works fine.

Word for Mac 2008 has now stopped responding to even 1-finger scrolling!
It had been working fine for weeks after installing Yosemite . . . somebody's update broke it.
Just wanted to pop in and confirm that I'm experiencing the same issue with both 1 and 2 finger scrolling, but only after I left Word open and the system went to sleep, upon return scroll functionality was gone.
On Yosemite 10.10.1
I am on update 14.4.6 and I still have this problem.
Furthermore, I can no longer drag and drop a highlighted section.
I first noticed this with Yosemite 10.10.1. Upgrading to MS WORD 14.4.6 solved it. I'm eager to see how long the fix lasts!
Removing the word plists will solve this problem (unsure for how long though)
- Quit Word
- Go to ~/Library/Preferences (this is the user library, not the system library!) and remove com.microsoft.Word.plist and com.microsoft.Word.plist.lockfile
- Restart Word
- Solved!
Resetting Microsoft Word Preferences fixed this problem for me in Microsoft 2008
