IEEE 1394 Error Message on Diagnostic and "Do Not Disconnect" on my iPod

I have a new iPod 60GB and my music on the iTunes (from my computer) won't import/transfer to my iPod. The iPod has the "Do not disconnect" message that never turns off when I plug it into my computer, and when I do a diagnostic on it I get the following message: "No IEEE 1394 Host Controller Found."
My USB ports work fine for other things (e.g. my printer), and the newest iTunes (7.0) is downloaded on my computer. I have done the 5 R's (as recommended by the site). This thing is brand new and I would like to listen to my music.
What can I do to have my music transferred/synched/imported to my iPod?
Please Help. Thanks!

I just bought the same ipod 4 days ago and had same problem. I ran diagnostics and came up with same error. The IEEE 1394 host controller is just that it sees there is no firewire port, you don't need this anyway. I called apple, they said virus...which is crap cause it was on 2 computers that I had this problem.
It was suggested on here that I get a firewire port, but when I went into pc store to get one, the mac guy said that we can not use firewire ports to sync music, just charging. He suggested again that I replace USB 2.0 port. I told him mine was new and that it worked for other things, but he said sometimes some usb ports won't work for bigger things than printers and flashdrives. So I spent 20 dollars on a new usb 2.0 card and it fixed the problem. The reason it did not work on other pc is because it did not have a 2.0 even though it says it is only recommended that it be 2.0.
BTW, I also have an 80 gig that I bought on same day, and it did not work either, but both worked when I bought new usb card. Ignore the IEEE error, it's just letting you know you do not have a firewire card and you don't need it anyway.
Hope this helps, spent three days on phone with both stores I bought the pods from, apple, and 3 pc techs, and spent 14 hours (not kidding) on pc researching this issue and tried every troubleshooting tip on here and 3 other websites and nothing worked until I got the new port.

Not a problem. I spent hours online trying to find the answer to this. From 7pm to 4am, and again from 8pm to 4am, only stopping for food and drinks. I tried every solution I was given and nothing worked. Spent hours on phone with friends that are pc techs and have ipods, they were all stumped by the itunes freezing (sometimes it did not freeze), and by the time I got to the store I was irked that he said usb. But it worked, going in there this week to thank him and tell him it worked. But let me know if this solves your problem too because I will look out and make sure that anyone else that has this issue gets this answer as well. BTW, I'm a sista...lol

I'm getting this message with my third replacement Ipod. My PC is only 7months old and have the Ipod plugged directly into the computer port. It isn't charging and the diagnostic - when it eventually ran, gave me this garbage. Until Apple can make their hardware work to a reasonable standard, they shouldn't be marketing it. My 12 months warranty period is nearly up and between the 3 Ipods I have had less than 3 months use out of the lot of them. Utter, absolute rubbish.
