Can anyone tell me if the iPad Air 2 box should say "iPad Air 2" on it? Or does it say just "iPad Air"?

Here's a photo. A better way is to use the model number on the back of the box.

It will say "iPad Air" but the different color on the words show it's s iPad Air 2. Same with the iPad Mini 3. The photo kinda show the no noise/noise is on the iPad Air. The one with the hole is iPad Air 2.

What should the model number have to indicate it is Air 2? I just did a confusing exchange at Best Buy for a change in color for my hubby and not sure the one I brought home is a 2? 😕

Glad to hear you got the problem sorted out. A simple way to tell just by looking at your iPad is the iPad Air 2 has no side switch.

I just purchased the iPad Air 2 and had the same annoying confusion after driving one hour to purchase it. The Target store manager said the difference is the the iPad Air 2 has the "Bit Apple" icon before the name. Boxes without the Apple icon are iPad Air.

Another shopper at the store display case asked me the same question but she was looking for a mini which has three models, iPad mini, iPad mini 2 & iPad mini 3. So I told her to ask the manger. Apple puts a lot into their product packaging design I don't understand why the product names are so illusive.

A secondary way to tell is to look at the speaker cutouts/perforations at bottom edge on either side of the Lightning port...iPad Air has two rows, iPad Air 2 has one row.

I went to product support and entered in the device serial number and submitted.. when the page populated it said the product name which was the only way I knew this actually is an iPad Air 2..

the print on the box of air2 is colored..I have gold ..the box lettering is also gold

Both, I have 2 that say iPad Air 2 and one that says iPad Air. Model number on settings, general, about is best way to tell. Also air 2 has a thin side view photo where iPad Air is side and front on an angle.
