Q: DVD studio pro - Dual Layer Disc burning issues.

Hi all,

We are working on an 8 DVD set for a client. All of the DVDs will be Dual Layer. They use multiple tracks and stories for many elements.

Initially I had programmed the discs to have 1 track (a main track) with 5 videos in it that were then referenced by stories. Each of those videos were a chapter. The videos are close to 3 hours long. I had multiple other tracks created for bonus features and interviews. These were short, less than 2 mins each. There were a total of 20 of them. I was able to burn these discs no problem. I had the dual-layer break point set to automatic and it figured it out for me with no issues.

We had to make a change so I had to split the main track into 5 tracks. After this change, I could no longer burn the discs automatically. I had to set a dual-layer break point.

There is no fundamental change in the amount of information being burned to a disc. Why can't DVDSP find a suitable break point anymore?

I assume it was burning the information to the disc thusly: Chapter 1, followed by 4 chapter 1 bonuses, Chapter 2, followed by 4 chapter 2  bonues, and so on.

However, now it appears to try to burn it thusly: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5, Chapter 1 bonuses and so on.

Is there a way to forcefully change this? Any insight as to what could have caused this?

Also, does anyone have a program recommendation that can look at the save history of a file? If  I could just get the save I had from last week, everything will be fine. I do not have it time machined, and I stupidly saved over it before making this change.

Thanks for any help.
