Object replacement character is repeatedly spoken in Text to Speech

In Yosemite,Text to Speech speeks "Object Character Replacement" when it comes to buttons like Facebook, twitter etc. It is very annoying. This did not happen in any previous operating system. Is there a way to stop it.

Thanks

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

Couldn't agree more - this is a terrible thing and Apple should really consider fixing it - for those of us who have trouble reading and depend on text-to-speech (a great feature), it becomes prohibitive to use when there are uncountable instances of this invisible yet annoying re-occurance of "Object Character Replacement" spoken in what seems to be RANDOM moments during listening - hope this will be resolved.
