Q: Missed Facetime Call notifications in Yosemite, even though the call was answered on iPhone

Hello,

I'm running Yosemite 10.10 on an iMac and iOS 8.1 on an iPhone 6.  I like the feature that allows you to answer an incoming iPhone call on your desktop/laptop.  However, when I receive an incoming cellular (non Facetime) call on my iPhone, and answer the call, I get a "Missed FaceTime Call" notification that appears on my iMac, even though the call was in fact answered on my iPhone.

I double checked the call log on my iPhone, and the call are correctly listed as answered "Incoming Calls" (not as incoming FaceTime calls).  For each of the correctly listed "Incoming Calls" there is a corresponding "Missed FaceTime Call" on Yosemite on my iMac.

Anyone know what's up with this or experiencing similar issues, seems bizarre that the iMac is listing successfully answered cellular calls as "Missed FaceTime Call."

Thanks!

Happens to me as well, and it is really annoying.  I even turned off FaceTime on my computer, and it still happens, which is just bizarre.

I get these too for all calls when I'm connected to my home WiFi.

You can disable facetime notifications in system preferences. However, this will block legitimate facetime notifications as well.

    System Preferences > Notifications

    1. Click FaceTime

    2. Click Alert Style: None

    3. Uncheck all boxes (Show notifications on lock screen, Show in notification center, badge app icon, play sounds for notifications)

This should prevent you from seeing those annoying notifications.

One would think that with continuity/hand-off, Apple would have also built in a check to see if the call was picked up on another device.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Okay... For anyone still having this problem, I just finished talking to AppleCare. I was really curious what I might be missing because I had FaceTime turned OFF and I was signed out, and I'd also turned off the handshake feature (I don't want calls going to my Mac). The rep had never heard of this before and I let her know that a bunch of people had posted in the Apple Community and several mentioned they had contacted Apple. After a bit of a wait, she said her supervisor wanted to speak to me.

He double-checked some of the settings I'd already made...then asked me to check my iPhone Settings-FaceTime. While FaceTime was turned ON for the iPhone (which was fine) "iPhone Cellular Calls" needed to be turned OFF. That setting allows all devices signed into your iCloud account to make and receive calls when they are nearby and on WiFi.

I've received a few calls already and so far, so good!

    Hope this helps!

That's nice and all, but I still want to be able to accept phone calls on my iMac or Macbook Air. However, I do not want them to continually appearing if I've answered the call on another device. That's the issue I am having.

Right, having the same problem, the solution proposed by njenkinson doesn't really address/solve the bug.

This solution did not work for me.

Let's see if the solution to force notifications off works.

    Sigh.

I remember a time when the slogan for Apple was "it just works"...

    I have the same issue.

The solution I want is to have notifications on all devices and all of them disappear when the call is answered on any of the devices.

Same issue here too. I want to have the option to answer on my Mac so I don't really want to disable the sharing, but there seems no sensible way to remove the notification of a supposed missed call on FaceTime other than to open FaceTime and manually clear it.

    It's nuts.

I'm still seeing this same issue, OS X 10.10.5 and I've deleted all calls in the "Audio" and "Video" tabs.  Nothing in iOS9 relates.  I just disabled badging on the Mac.
