HealthKit metrics missing...

HealthKit can track body height... Why does it not offer to track body thickness??

Why not offer the repositories to handle the circumference of the waist, arms, legs, and neck?

Seems like it's missing all the stuff I need to track. If one is trying to reshape their body and lose body fat, the size of the body matters as much (if not more) than the kilograms the scale claims you weigh.

Also, why does it offer to track the amount of alcohol in one's system but not the amount of water one consumes???

Plus, my fiance wants to track her menstrual cycles... This is also missing in HealthKit.

Below is the list of data I would like to see HealthKit track:

- Neck (inch/cm)

- Shoulders (inch/cm)

- Chest (inch/cm)

- left bicep (inch/cm)

- right bicep (inch/cm)

- left forearm (inch/cm)

- left wrist (inch/cm)

- right forearm (inch/cm)

- right wrist (inch/cm)

- waist (inch/cm)

- hips (inch/cm)

- left thigh (inch/cm)

- right thigh (inch/cm)

- left calf (inch/cm)

- right calf (inch/cm)

- Lean body mass (lb/stones/Kg) - BMI is not particularly useful for the individual...

- % body fat (percentage based on difference of full body mass and lean body mass)

- Water consumption (oz/Liters)

- Menstrual period (start/ end time periods)

@bodyxs,

HealthKit or MedicalCenter? What is the difference?

The HealthKit repositories track data for blood chemistry like insulin and vitamin intake. Would you not consider that to be "medical center info..." ? There is a strange mix of data that is tracked. But if it was aimed at women, then it completely missed something (menstrual cycle) that they must keep track of... If it was aimed at people trying to lose weight or gain muscle, then the "Body vitals" of arms, legs, torso, and neck are completely missing. Why track alcohol and not water? It just seems like an incomplete story.

Yes, you are correct in that other apps exists for such metrics. Just as all the metrics tracked now were once tracked by independent apps before iOS 8. But HealthKit was billed as the way to track everything you care about. Something that medical doctors can use to quickly ***** your body's health. A nutritionist and personal trainer would certainly be concerned with the data I'm requesting. Doctors would certainly advise patients to lose body fat and tone up muscles. A weight scale is a poor tool to gage progress on this point.

At the time I submitted this community question, I also submitted feedback to APPLE. But thanks for reminding me of where to find that suggestion form. I could only hope that Apple actually reads my feedback (and this discussion).

Health app is a way to use your health and fitness information. It's more related to health and fitness, it's not a medical center info. There's another apps to track and keep records for that. More features will be added in later updates, buy in the meantime feel free to send your feedback directly to Apple, here we all are users like you http://apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
