This from Presonus; (Generally a Mac-centric company)
"As you know, Apple is quite a secretive company, keeping many specifics close to their chest, all the way until launch day. This secrecy even extends outward to any and all developers outside of the Apple-MacWorld walls. The various beta versions shared with external developers and even within the public beta (prior to the actual commercial release) do not ever fully reflect the final, commercial version that has made the cut to be the "Golden Seed" for the final public launch."
I have heard this, (actually far worse) for years from the two developers I know personally. Some developers never see the last several Beta's before the final release. It's not always the developers fault that driver's or plugins are not up to date, it's Apple's secrecy and also their hierarchy of what constitutes a "trusted" (read kiss ***) Apple developer.
I have two Presonus Fire Studio Project's I use for 16-track mobile recording, on a 6yr old PC Laptop... that amazingly can record 16-tracks simultaneously on an internal 5400 RPM drive, longest session I've done is two hours non-stop.
If anyone was going to give Apple a break on this it would be Presonus, the fact they mention the secrecy that has been known for years among some developers is telling.
