Oct 7, 2016 2:22 PM in response to TheLoomis130by negröJ,Hi all!
I have installed a second drive into my iMac late 2015
There was from beginning a 250gig flash drive and I added a WD 3TB Red.
So now I am running it with two separate disks inside.
What you need is:
HDD cable - Apple part 923-00092
HDD Cable temperature adapter - OWC part OWCDIDIMACHDD12 (maybe not needed if you use software to control fans)
HDD mounting screws 4pcs - Ebay or local radioshack (They need to be little longer because of rubber spacers)
I had Drive brackets already installed so I didnt needed to buy that
Be warned!! Warranty will disappear if opened.
Only do this operation if you have knowledge.
Watch teardown videos be4.
I also tried to upgrade CPU from i5 to an i7 without success. (maybe faulty CPU so i gave that up)
Intel i7 6700K LGA1151 4.0Ghz

Oct 8, 2016 4:25 AM in response to TheLoomis130by woodmeister50,FWIW, anyone who is going through all the trouble and hassle
and warranty issues of putting a an HDD inside of an late model
iMac is going through a lot more trouble than it is worth. Both
USB3 and Thunderbolt connections will realize the full speed of
any spinning HDD. A direct internal connection to the SATA bus
won't be any faster as the spinning HDD itself is the limiting
factor.

Oct 8, 2016 11:27 AM in response to woodmeister50by negröJ,It actually doesent matter if you put a external ir onternal drive, BUT i didnt want more crap and cables on my desktop.
Changed from PC to MAC because i was tired of all the junk lying around. Thats why i put it inside, and i was just sharing my experience to other who have the same questions.
AND about the warranty, i dont care about that. If the computer works flawlessly for five months, it will survive a few more years (I hope ).

For your sake, I hope so; however, iMac repairs and parts are very expensive.
