I'm getting a gear or cog icon in my toolbar but it's not clickable.
It appears for a brief second then disappears. I can't get rid of it.
I've restarted my Mac but it still shows.
I only noticed it after I installed Breeze. I have disabled this app now.
Any idea?

Is this the Time machine wheel?
No, the Time Machine icon is like an analogue clock.
I think it may have something to do with Time Machine Backup Scheduler app.
Try un-installing the application and see if it goes away.
I've seen it too since upgrading to Yosemite. I normally see it at boot time and that's it. I don't have the Breeze application installed so I don't think it's that.
