Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- Then do the other actions of:

paying special attention to item #5
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

Where are you entering the Apple ID PW?
What message do yo get when you try?
Have you tried resetting the PW?

Oct 29, 2014 4:49 PMby Tarpon471,Thanks for the reply. Let clarify I am on a MAC platform and my password is working on all my IOS and OS devices. One strange thing with Touch is that it updated apps while not excepting my pw. I use the iPod in my car, if works fine, but it doesn't get sync'd very often.
