Oct 29, 2014 4:16 PM in response to Braunsby Grant Bennet-Alder,★HelpfulIf we are talking about a 42 lb silver tower, your Mac Pro uses a Tray Loading DVD Reader. At what point in the process is the failure? It refuses to open the tray? It makes a grinding noise instead? It refuses to close the tray? The DVD does not spin up? Does not mount? what?
If this is a different model Mac, which model?

Oct 29, 2014 4:57 PM in response to Grant Bennet-Alderby Brauns,Hi Grant,
Thanks for the reply. I probably mis-led you by saying my computer is a Mac Pro. It is an iMac with a side loading slot on the right side. Anyway, since I wrote my email, I closed down my computer, unplugged it, waited awhile pushed the power button on the back and almost simultaneously held down the option, command and the R and P keys until it restarted twice , released the keys and was able to insert the CD with no problem. Thank you again for you help.
Regards,
Joe
