I have an old application from the early 2000s (like 2000-2004). There's a Windows app and a Mac app. I'm not sure what the oldest supported Mac OS version is. The application is called "Pumpkin Masters CD Pattern Maker."

Classic applications and legacy applications cannot run under Yosemite. Support of Classic mode was stopped with Mac OS X 10.4 or 10.5. Support of running legacy software, the stuff that ran under PPC OS X versions, was stopped with 10.6. There is no way to run that under Yosemite, except to talk to the developer and see if there is an updated version that is Mac OS X 10.7 and above compatible.
What if I downloaded Mac OS from Apple's Website and ran the OS inside an emulator? Is that legal?
The difficulty is getting an older version of an operating system to run. Older versions of Mac OS X than that which shipped on the computer will not boot...the firmware will not allow an older system to boot. Some have been successful in running a 'not too old' OS X under Parallels, but that has always been a server version of the operating system, not the user version.
It would be easier to first try and see if the author/developer of the software has an updated version that is compatible.
