Lost photos...HELP !

Hi,

I have lost 1500 photos from iphoto. What happened is that i had a total of 2200 photos but only 598 of them were saved on my hard disk on the Images folder. All the other 1500-1600 photos that i had was only download from my camera to iphotos directly. Now yesterday, i erase the whole Images folder. I have an external hard drive that create back up everyday so i copy/paste the Images folder form my Back Up to the original hard rive but only my 600 photos that was originaly saved in jpeg was restaure in iphotos.

I imagine that when you download photos from a camera to iphoto it create a Library somewhere. I checked the iphotos library but only the 600 photos already saved in a different location (Personal images folder) was there.

Please help !!!

Thanks

If you imported the files driectly into iPhoto they should be stored in your Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library Folder in a folder called Originals.

If you have erased that then you need to

1, Stop using your computer until you have recovered the files. If you trashed them, then they are still on the disk. But if you save documents then you run the risk of over writing them.

2. Download File Salvage

This is file recoery software that will unerase your pictures.

Good Luck

Machiavel:

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. To quickly see if all of your image files are in the Originals folder you should do the following:

1 - launch iPhoto with the Option key depressed and, when asked, create a new library.
2 - drag the "Originals" folder from your current library into iPhoto's open window to import.

The resulting new library will contain all of the files inside the Originals folder. You can check it out to see if all of your files are there. If so, you can use that library.
User uploaded file Do you Twango?

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
