Q: iOS 8.1 Bluetooth issues

iPhone 6 on Verizon, 2013 Prius

I got my new iPhone last week, got it all setup by restoring from a backup from my iPhone 5 and got up and running fine on iOS 8.  I then paired the phone to my Prius for the first time.  All seemed to be good until last night.  I pressed and held the home button to activate Siri and when I got the annoying "I'm really sorry but I can't take any requests right now" I tried to end the call by hanging up.  First I tried by using the "end call" button on my steering wheel that I always use.  No luck.  I then went into the phone and tried to end the call, while sitting at a stop light, and no luck as it thought the call ended.  I turned off/on Bluetooth and the call ended but as soon as I tried to send a text it hung again.  I had to reboot the phone.  After the reboot it worked fine for 2 or 3 txts and then hung again.  Again it took another reboot.

I NEVER experienced this with my iPhone 5 and the 2 or 3 different iOS's I ran on it.  Am I the only one experiencing this?  Is there any way to fix this?  I use Siri a lot to txt and call people when I'm driving, so to need to reboot my phone a couple times every trip will get extremely annoying.

Thanks, Andre

I've had a few issues with my Bluetooth, but after i turned the phone off and back on, it seemed to resolve the issue. I own a Kia Optima Hybrid, so perhaps its an issue with the Prius? Have you asked Toyota about this yet?

    Good luck!

Thanks for the reply.  I'll be taking my car in for service in the next couple of weeks and will ask them, but I can already imagine their reply.  I can't see how it would be the car when Bluetooth on the car has worked just fine for the last year with my iPhone 5.  The only thing that has changed is the iPhone 6.  I even had iOS 8.1 on my iPhone 5 for a short time before I got my 6, and never had any issues with it in the car.

I have 2014 Acura RDX and I’ve been having problem with bluetooth feature in my car ever since I got iPhone 6 plus.

With iOS 8 and iOS 8.0.2, deleting my phone info from my car and car info from my phone and re-pairing the two seemed to do the trick.

But with iOS 8.1, that trick no longer works.

It keeps connecting and disconnecting every few minutes during a call. Person on the other hand sometimes notices it but not all the time.

    It is super frustrating.

I’ve never had a Bluetooth issue with previous iOS versions.

WHY DID YOU HAVE TO RUIN PERFECTLY WORKING CODE, APPLE!!!!!!!

    PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!!!

Picked up iPhone 6 Plus for my wife yesterday, able to connect to both our cars (2011 Lexus RX and 2011 BMW 7), but only hearing clicking sounds. My iPhone 6 works fine with both. Both are running 8.1.1, I'm guessing the issue is only with the 6 Plus? Anybody else having the same issue? Any suggestions on how to fix this? I already tried reseting and deleting, then pairing again...

Having problems with iPhone 6 and the bluetooth connection to my 2014 Acura RDX.  Didn't have this problem with my iPhone5.  I've done the restores, deleted pairings and re-paired, running on OS 8.1.1.  VERY frustrating.  Bluetooth connection goes on/off,  on/off.... constantly to the point of distraction while driving.

This can't be an isue with the car.  Apple needs to fix this!!

The only issue I have with iPhone 6 Bluetooth is when I use my maps/gps I pair with my Equinox phone Bluetooth. I can send/receive calls but the gps I have to mute or it uses my car phone to give directions and the car phone keeps hanging up. The only thing I found to bypass this is to mute my iPhone maps then I can still send/receive calls and use my iPhone gps without voice and still send/receive calls.

I discovered this issue with my phone just yesterday.  I asked Siri to find a place i was looking for, which he found it and then asked if I wanted directions...when I said yes, the phone disconnected

Having similar issues with iPhone 6 (iOS 8.1.2) and 2014 Acura RDX. Everything worked fine on iPhone 5S and worked fine with iPhone 6 using iOS 8.1.1, but as soon as I "upgraded" to 8.1.2, now I can still make and receive calls, but those calls continually disconnect and reconnect via Bluetooth, and I can't use SIRI at all.

Spoke to Apple, hoping to go back to iOS 8.1.1, but even that is not possible.  Apple really screwed the pooch with iOS 8 releases.

I Have been having this issue since I bought my 2014 RDX last year. Read this morning that I should turn off my wifi in the car. This fixed the problem. I used the blue tooth for 45 minutes today without the call dropping back to my phone.  This is an apple issue they need to fix!
