Q: Is there a way to make multiple apps follow "Prevent App Nap" via Terminal?

I know that an individual application can be prevented from utilizing the App Nap feature by accessing its Get Info panel and checking the appropriate box.

I'm curious if changing that option on multiple applications at once is possible, possibly using Terminal.

If I understand the concept correctly, the App Nap feature is intended to aid battery performance; is it even necessary on a desktop computer? Are there still advantages to having most--if not all--applications utilizing the feature on a desktop?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10)
