Battery problem 2014 Macbook Pro Retina

Hey,

So I got a new Macbook Pro yesterday (after a big faff having to return another one last week because of wifi issues).

Last night it was showing up 3.5 hours on the battery, but telling me it was at 100%. I enabled Power Nap last night and that bumped it up to about 6 hours. I charged it all last night and now it's telling me 8 hours (and still that it's 100% charged).

Only chrome and finder are open, I'm not using bright screen settings, and the keyboard lights are off.

What's going on? The last one said 13 hours immediately after being fully charged the first time.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

Reset SMC. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

Choose the method for:

"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".

If this does not help, contact Apple.

Best.

This stat varies always.

Try another day. New batteries take couple of charge cycles to optimize.

Keep the option open of returning the Mac within 14 days of purchase.

13 hours quoted is taken from the performance of battery under optimum lab conditions.

Real life performance will be different.
