How to save/store/view Files for a PC

I am preparing iMovies for my children for Christmas. I want to put these on portable hard drives. My daughter is on a Mac, but my son is on a PC. Do I need to buy different types of portable drives? Do I need to do anything to the movies for the ones that will be viewed on a PC. I would like for this to work easily so I'm trying to identify any problems early on. Thanks for any assistance.

many Windows.users are shy installing Quicktime on their machines...

A simple re-wrap solves the prob:

Media (drives, sticks) have to be formatted using your Macs Disk Utility to fat32 or exFat.

fat32 is the older standard, therefor very compatible, but limited to file sizes of max 4GBs (longer fullHD movies can be bigger 🙂 )

exFat accepts bigger files, but isn't as versatile as fat32; e.g. Sony Playstations don't accept exFat sticks.....
