Q: Grey screen flashing question mark

MY MacBook pro was hanging so I powered it off when powering back on I'm getting a grey screen with a flashing folder containing a question mark. Can anybody help me get beyond this? I'm running Mavericks.

Booted up whilst holding down alt and got a grey screen requesting me to choose a network chose my normal home hub and then got an Internet recovery message which has now produced a globe with an exclamation mark in a triangle with apple.com/support -21 00F underneath - any help would be most appreciated
