Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like you are having trouble with AirPlay. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.
iTunes: Troubleshooting AirPlay and AirPlay Mirroring - Apple Support
If the AirPlay icon doesn’t appear in iTunes
Ensure that you followed these steps to use AirPlay in iTunes.
If the AirPlay icon
still doesn't appear, try one of the following steps:If you want to AirPlay to an Apple TV, ensure that AirPlay is enabled on the Apple TV. From the Apple TV main menu, go to Settings > AirPlay. This should be set to On.
If you want to AirPlay to an Airport Express, ensure that AirPlay is enabled in the device settings.
If you want to AirPlay to a 3rd party AirPlay-enabled device, refer to the user guide.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,
Mario

Nov 3, 2014 9:17 PM in response to jamgal70by bjsully,Hi jamgal70 and mario49. I too have this issue with AirPlay not working after my upgrade to Yosemite. Airplay quit working on both my Mid 2011 iMac 27 inch and my Late 2012 MacBook Pro Retina 13 inch. When running Mavericks on both machines I would be able to stream audio though out my house via the Radium app to listen to internet radio. I know nothing is wrong with my network that has an Airport Extreme (Tall model) and two AirPort Expresses (New model, looks like the Apple TV), because I also have a 2012 Mac Mini still running Mavericks and I stream internet radio via the same version of the Radium app that does not work with Yosemite. The Radium app works with the internal speakers of my iMac and MacBook Pro. So the common denominator in all this is Yosemite is causing AIrPlay to fail.

Nov 3, 2014 10:55 PM in response to bjsullyby jamgal70,I contacted tech support and it was a simple solution. I did not think to restart my ATV. I also made sure that all of our ATVs - we have 3 - were up to date. Then completely shut my computer down, restarted it and airplay was back on. However, airplay does stop in the middle of a movie from time to time, which is exactly what happened when I first upgraded to Mavericks. I literally spent hours trying to figure out why airplay kept stopping. Then the problem went away after updating Mavericks a few times. I'm sure the same thing will happen after updating Yosemite a few times. Airplay will eventually work seamlessly. It just takes time for the Apple tech folks to work out the kinks. It's a pain for the consumer, though, to have to figure out why a software or program that once worked with the previous operating system is no longer working with the newest upgrade. If you recently upgraded to Yosemite, you have 30 days of free tech support. That is if your computers are out of warranty.
