"date last opened" not updating in Yosemite

Hello, I hope I can explain this correctly. I organize my flies (spreadsheets, word processing documents, photos, etc) in Finder using "Date Last Opened" and usually as a List. In Mavericks, this worked perfectly. If I opened a file which was, say, 5th from the top in Mavericks, when I opened it, I'd see it jump to the top of the Finder window, and the "date last opened" date change to today's date and time. That's the behavior I expect.

Since I upgraded to Yosemite, this happens intermittently. Sometimes the date doesn't change at all (as it should change to the date I open it) and sometimes it does. Sometimes it jumps to the top of the list, sometimes it doesn't. It often keeps the same date as the PREVIOUS time I've opened it, even after it's been opened and closed. I've had to change my views to "sort by - none" and then show "last last opened" as a column header and resort the documents, if that makes sense. This is frustrating & I don't understand why it's happening. Why wouldn't "date last opened" change when I open a document??

I can only imagine it's a glitch in Yosemite, since I'm not doing anything different than I did in Mavericks, as far as I can tell.

Does anyone know?

I have the same kind of issue. I normally sort my downloaded directory based on the date for adding it to the directory. In a number of the cases the files is sorted under a heading "no date" or "earlier" in the end of the files there. When the file is selected the file info says the correct date and time. This happens at least within minutes of downloading the file. Later on it will show up correctly. Sometimes it displays correctly in finder, but incorrectly in window dialogues e.g in iBooks when trying to locate the downloaded pdf file to add it to the ibooks library. If it was performance problems it would be one thing, but I have a four month old MBP 15" i7 with SSD and 16GB RAM so I hope that is not the case.
