Yosemite will not maintain an ethernet connection

This started right after upgrading to Yosemite. My ethernet connection stopped working. I have replaced the ethernet cable and the hub to make sure they weren't the problem. I could reset the hub or reboot my computer to get the connection temporarily restored. When I shift over to wifi (and connect to the same router), the connection is fine. My computer is a Mac Mini; my internet is UVerse. This ethernet connection was stable for more than two years before this upgrade. I've rebooted my computer, my router, and my hub more times in the last few days than in the previous three years. Any ideas?

I have had the same problem since upgrading to Yosemite. I did all of the same things you did. I even blamed my internet provider. I switch off the ethernet connection and am relying on my internet connection via wifi. Not the solution . . . I can use the ethernet connection for awhile if I reboot and/or disconnect the modem/router. But it only lasts for awhile. After a few pages into a site, the progress bar stops about a third of the way across when going to a linked page. All very frustrating. I am hoping that someone will answer this post with a magic bullet and/or apple comes out with an update that will fix my problem.

I have the same problem with a Mac Pro connected to an Air Port Extreme, the new model using a manual IP address. The only solution is reboot my Mac. I noticed that my computer name keeps changing to (1), (2), and so on at the end of the computer name as it was a name conflict, every 2 or more weeks. Today I'm trying using another IP address and switch to the Ethernet port 2 if it has any effect. Will let you know.

I have solved the problem for my situation. This may or may not work for yours. I did the following: unchecked network access in the energy saver panel. This was creating various versions of Mac which I believe confused the computer when trying to connect. Then I shut down the Mac, unplugged the router and modem. Restarted everything. Plugged in modem, router and restart. This was two weeks ago and I have not had a problem. The current update seems to have speeded things along also. The only issue I have is that the log on page (Apple Website) is slow to load, but if I type an address into the address bar it goes quickly to the site.

I fixed this by deleting the internet settings (both WiFi and Ethernet) and rebooted my computer. This forced it to rebuild the settings and fixed everything. What I originally found in that folder were duplicate settings, causing Yosemite to be confused. I found this solution in another post; unfotunately, I no longer have it. Try searching internet problems and deleting.
