iTunes Desktop Port Numbers

I am trying to determine what port numbers iTunes Desktop typically uses on TCP/UDP. Does anyone know right off hand?

Thanks for the information my friend. After doing a search of the IANA’s port’s table I couldn’t really determine what ports Apple was using for their product. There were three (3) areas on the table that I was closely looking at:

1) (Common) Ports 0 to 1023,
2) (Registered) Ports 1024 to 49151 and
3) (Dynamic/Private) Ports 49152 to 65535.

As you know on the Dynamic/Private range, by definition, no ports can be officially registered in the Dynamic Ports range. I appreantly was not reading close enough for I found the External Link (Same link you provided) that led me to what I needed. Keep in mind when viewing IANA’s port listing, one must go back at least every other day for an updated listing on this table. The port assigments may/may not change with the update.

Thanks man keep up the good work in helping others who are having problems with iTunes Desktop. If I can be of help in helping you trouble shoot difficult problems let me know how I can get ahold of you. FYI go back to the thread that you saved in our last discussion on the 615 Error code. You may find my closing thoughts interesting on the issue. But keep in mind also when you revew the information there is another scnario that can occure when this audit code is logged. Let me briefly explain:

Issue to consider: “Ethernet Cable”. Some folks will unplug their cable when running a Virus program or Spyware program while running an indepth scan on the local machine. When the connection is lost a 615 error audit will be logged in the Security folder. When you reconnect another 615 audit code will be registered in the System folder stating that “IPSec Service” has started on reboot. Keep in mind this will only be logged if the connection is physically removed while at the desktop. I hope this information has been helpful and make since to you.
