While trying to shoot a video on my 32 gig iPhone 5s, I got a message that said there isn't enough storage to record a video. I deleted all photos and videos, but in Photos & Camera usage it says I have 11.1GB. Why is is showing this amount of usage when I have no photos or videos on the device?

A reset may help:
Double click the Home button and quit all apps.
Then hold the Home button and the Power button at the same time, keep holding, when you see the white Apple logo let go, and let the iPhone start up again.

in settings-general-usage just under 'used' and 'available' click "manage storage": there you can see what exactly is using the storage and how much.
Yeah, that's where I'm seeing the 11.1GB
for which application?
The path is Manage Storage / Photos & Camera / Photo Library

Not trying to sound creepy or anything but I'm happy to go on Skype and do a call to try and sort it out?
First step is to open the Photos app on your device, click Albums and then check Recently Deleted. The photos will stay on your device for 30 days even though they are deleted. This is similar to the Trash Can or Recycle Bin on a regular computer. If you still have space being used after removing them from the Recently Deleted folder then try restoring through iTunes and use your backup. If that still doesn't work you will need to try a restore but set it up as a new device.
anypats point correctly to some thing that may have been overlooked: empty the iPhoto trash bin.
I"m having the same problem. any solution found? my problem only started when iPhotos disappeared and was replaced by photos (on my macbook pro).
