Can the Mac Mini late 2014 monitor 4k displays via Thunderbolt?

I saw that the mac mini late 2014 model, can monitor a 4k display through a HDMI cable, but then it only supports 30Hz screen. So I wonder if I can view a 4k monitor through the thunderbolt and then adapt to HDMI and get 60Hz? Is this possible, or will I only get 2160px by 1440px through thunderbolt?

The Displayport interface on the Mac mini does not support MST (Multi Stream Transport) which is required to do 4K at 60Hz. Despite Apple's lack of official notes saying so I would expect that 4K at 30Hz would be possible via the Displayport interface and a Mini Displayport to HDMI adapter, this however of course is the same as the built-in HDMI port so such an exercise has little point.
