Why 2 copies of every photo?

when I sync up with iTunes and iPhoto opens, there are two copies of every photo in the import list. Why? Do I need to change some sort of setting?

It sounds as if you have HDR turned on in the Camera. If you don't want both versions of the picture saved, go to Settings>Photos & Camera and set Keep Normal Photo to "Off".

I have the same problem, but with both my iPad 2 and my iPhone 6. It must be some setting in iPhoto or in the iCloud. I can't figure this one out.

I'm not even sure if the two images are actually there. I'll try editing one and see if it leaves the other alone.
