Nov 1, 2014 8:23 AM in response to saadappleby lllaass,Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer. However if other iOS 8 devices work with the computer no need to try another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Nov 1, 2014 2:29 PM in response to bohemiandinoby lllaass,Only a very few uses have a real problems with iOS 8.1. iOS 8.1 seems no worse in that regard than to other iOS updates.

Nov 1, 2014 2:38 PM in response to lllaassby bohemiandino,No, I saw a bunch of them. And all of them suffered because of update 8.1
Same problem that: Black Screen, No Charge, No Response, Nothing.
And this happened just after update and I saw dozens in communities just looking for few minutes, probably, many people have same problem that not writing on communities. Maybe thousands.
If you can't help, please don't try to protect this huge company, because they don't need. But we (ipod touch owners) need help.

Nov 1, 2014 2:46 PM in response to bohemiandinoby lllaass,Millions of 5G iPods have been updated and I have not seen millions of people reporting problems. A few users always have problems with updates.

Nov 1, 2014 2:52 PM in response to lllaassby bohemiandino,Let's accept that you're right that very very very tiny percantage of users (I don't think in that way) have this situation.
But still these people need help and solution. And I'm totally sure that this is because update (8.1)
If you roll to down through thread titles, many people say "My ipod touch 5 doesn't turn on black screen, no response, no show up on pc, etc. etc." and all of them's devices have this problem after update (8.1)
I can detect this cause and effect relation; and I need a help, or explanation.

Nov 2, 2014 9:09 AM in response to bohemiandinoby saadapple,Thank you guys for your responses, but not too long after I posted this question, I fixed my iPod. All I did was hold down the power and home button down at the same time for a while. Then the apple logo appeared and it turned on. I suggest you do that too, bohemiandino, if you are having the same problem.

Nov 7, 2014 4:18 PM in response to saadappleby bohemiandino,Magically, my ipod touch opened this afternoon.
Through two weeks I tried several things like push power button for couple of minutes then push power and home button together for a couple of minutes. I replied this for a few times in a day. Also I put charge for 2 days after I firstly recognized my ipod is black out. But for a long time I didn't try charge for a long time (just half an hour etc.)
I put charge at morning today then when I came home at afternoon ( approximately 12-14 hours) my ipod touch was full charged and opened.
I promised that I will write my solution. I'm not sure this is a solution or not but my ipod touch is alive now.

Sep 27, 2016 5:01 AM in response to saadappleby soccer-basketballgirl26,same thing happens to my iPod 5 sometimes. I used to just let the batter die then turn it on that way. Thanks for posting this cause now I know what to do when this happens again.

Sep 27, 2016 8:06 AM in response to soccer-basketballgirl26by Subiesu,Somehow charging the battery first (for a while, I normally leave it charge for at least an hour first) before trying the force re-start (hold both the Home and On/Off buttons) seems to do a better job of waking up the iPod.
