Is it vital to install Mavericks

Question

Is it vital to install Mavericks? I have a problem with AppleUSBEthernet.kext

An iTune update was suggested, but it reqired iTune 12.1 and I have iTune 11.4.

It seems I'm stuck all round and need to upgrade! Is that the case?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

No. Delete that item, click here, and reinstall iTunes 11.4.
