Apple TV Remote Keeps Starting iTunes on Computer

From what I've heard, you can use an Apple TV remote for your iTunes application on your computer, but the thing is that my PC is the the same room as my Apple TV, so if someone in the house is using the Apple TV and using the Apple TV remote, iTunes on my computer will start playing music. It's starting to get annoying having to turn it off everytime someone uses Apple TV. Is there a way to not use the remote with my PC?

Hello Cpt_Scott_Parker,

The steps below detail how to prevent your Mac from accepting input from your Apple Remote.

  1. Click General, then click Advanced in Security & Privacy preferences.

Open Security & Privacy preferences for me

  2. Click the lock icon User uploaded file to unlock it, then enter an administrator name and password.

  3. Click Advanced.

  4. In the window that appears, select “Disable remote control infrared receiver.”
