MacBook Pro Retina charger explosion
Hi
Just a few minutes ago, I plugged the charger in and saw a flash and heard a sound. I pulled it out immediately and noticed the one pin had a burn mark. I feel very upset because looking on the Internet for similar problems I notice that this was something in last year's netbooks which should have been rectified by the manufacturer. Luckily my MacBook Pro Retina is just a few days old so I am heading back to the store tomorrow but what I wanted to ask is:
- would you trust a computer that presented such a problem? What guarantee is there that it won't happen with a different charger?
- do I need to replace the computer as well?
Some other comments regarding this netbook is that the battery definitely does not do the time they promise on paper or as the netbook predicts (in my case it said 10:10 hours). I barely got 6 hours of it without continuous usage (netbook went to sleep in between as I busied myself with housework). I only ran one programme on it, a game with very light demands. Nothing else. The actual usage was barely 4 hours. I had been noting down these details because yesterday I had to charge the netbook 3 times and in the end, although it said it had over an hour usage left, soon as I connected to HDMI to watch a film, it went on red and asked to be charged again. I put it to charge and noticed the charger had gotten very HOT! Maybe this was an early indication that there was something wrong with the charger. But as I am not technically minded, I have no idea how this may have affected my unit.
If you are a MacBook Pro Retina user, would you say this is typical behaviour for this model?
Thank you.
