Does it charge when connected to the computer or a wall charger?

    See:

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X

    Try another cable

Try another computer to help determine if computer or iPod problem.

The computer will not see the iPod in any event since the iPod does not have the BT profiles to support it.

    Thanks for helping me.
The link you gave me is giving me 404 error, but i've looked earlier on this support pages and couldn't find anything helpfull.

It charges via usb, I don't have another cable but my sister can connect it to her pc and sync it to her itunes (windows version).
Now comes the part when I make fool of myself... Yesterday I deleted everything on the ipod trying to put it in factory settings.... Dumb, I know!!
Now all I have is a image of a cable connecting to itunes... The ipod is dead..
OH!, I tried several things like the firewall settings and itunes preferences> share> library on local network.
The mac just don't even recognize it like it does with external HD or flash..
What are the BT profiles you're talking about?!
    Thanks once again.

    Does the iPod work?

    If not:

    Try:

    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

    - Try another cable

    - Try on another computer

    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar

    I just clicked on

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X

    and it worked

    BT is bluetooth profiles.

    Good news, and bad news....
It appears that the problem is in fact the cable. It charges the ipod but doesn't do anything else.
My sister assured me that it was everything ok with it and since I just have this mac and an ASUS TF300T with the horrible android, I've only tried to connect to it to see if it recognizes the ipod... unsuccessfully...
Suddenly after many hours of despair.. a sign.. it synced for a brief moment and unlock that screen.
I cant  use bluetooth because the ipod says that something with the mac is not supported.

The good news are that I've learned some cool stuff in the process  with all your suggestions and expertise .
And the problem will be solved with $19,99... LOL

By the way, you're really smart. Thank you for your help.
