I just connected my iPod to my computer for the first time since I updated iTunes to the latest version, 7 i think it is. iTunes asked me to update my iPod to version 1.7 i think it said and I did. Next thing I knew, all my songs were deleted from my iPod and from my iPod song list on iTunes. Then a message popped up saying my iPod was corrupted. Now, my iPod does not show up on iTunes. Does anyone know what's going on? Please help me if you do.

I'm having a similar problem to this. I've just switched my iPod over to my new laptop, it needed to be restored to factory settings through iTunes, but still didn't work (it still says it needs to be restored). I've tried re-assigning the drive letter of the iPod, as suggested in a trouble shooting article, but to no avail. Can anyone help?

I've been dealing with this problem as well. I'm not running XP but Win2K. There are reasons why I am still running Win2k. There is no terminal service under Win2k. All this started with iTunes 7x. I've been through the troubleshooting process in that article on iPod not showing up in iTunes, tried everything short of reinstalling windows. I'm pretty sure that is a red herring, sort like tech support would always get you off the phone for a while by telling you to defrag your hard drive. I'm not reinstalling my whole system just because my apple product or software refuses to play nice with windows. Anyone else out there have this problem under Win2k and iTunes 7x?

Apple: You're gonna need to do better or I'm going to junk my iPod and get a Creative or other competitor.

My iPod Nano was recognised by Windows but NOT recognised by iTunes 7. I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes 7, I restored my iPod using iPod Updater 2006-06-28, I did all the things on the official support page and the iPod still can't be updated in iTunes 7.

My advice to others in the same position is to get the free version of 'Media Monkey' and put your music on your nano using that!
