Where is the column browser in itunes 12

I recently upgraded to iTunes 12, and I was surprised to find that my column browser was gone. I've searched around, and I've found several articles that say I can activate it using the View > Column Browser option, but I don't have a Column Browser option in my View menu. Any tips on how I can restore my column browser?

Hi Jim,

Right, so you can see the list of songs, but you can't see the column browser. The screenshot you sent shows the list of songs without the column browser showing.

If you go to the list of songs for the music in your library, on the other hand, you can go to View --> Show Column Browser to see the column browser, which lets you filter by genre/artist/album.

Ditto and ditto regarding the post-Jobs non-improvements. But as for the beloved Column Browser - one of the BEST, most useful tools for personal musical management - it has been eliminated from PLAYLIST mode! It will still appear in preexisting playlists but in any post-update playlist, "Column Browser" does not appear in the View menu! This is just amazingly unhelpful, unfriendly, non-intuitive and down right stooooooooopid!!!

Gotta love how Apple just keeps taking things that were simple and intuitive and making them more and more difficult for no reason. Let's hide the column browser in the most obscure way possible just to mess with people. Let's get rid of the iPod Classic, too. Let's just pretty much undo everything Steve Jobs did for the company and purposefully take away everything that made our products and software useful, intuitive, and fun to use.

I miss my iPod Classic and older iTunes so much. Please bring back the useful stuff Steve Jobs worked so hard to revolutionize. This is ridiculous that we had to come to a help forum and discuss the issue amongst ourselves ad nauseam just to figure out something so simple as using the column broswer. Sheesh.

I agree totally!! For some reason, the programmers at Apple feel they must come up with worthless

changes to justify their existence. I continually have to go back to old versions to get something that runs with common sense. I just had to migrate my files to a new computer, and of course, it upgraded my Itunes to 12.8. The column browser is too much like work now. Something that simple and the f it up.

When I finally found out how to find the browser, it's limitations were incredible. All playlist browser features were gone. Only after reading hours of google post, did I finally find the solution from a kind sole.

In your playlist, select the playlist, you now have to go to View-View As, and select songs. The browser then should appear for that playlist. Big news flash, it's only for that selected playlist. If you want the browser in all play list, you have to repeat the process for each one individually. it does seem to retain it once you have made that selection. TOO MUCH LIKE WORK. Good luck my friends and vent your frustrations with these "self professed over achievers"!
